WARN 92090 Epic 3/8" Steel Winch Hook: 6 Ton (12,000 lb) Capacity , Black

This hook was purchased to replace the standard, silver hook shipping with my WARN Zeon 12 winch. It's a substantial improvement in several ways: The throat is larger allowing easier placement of tree straps or other items; the gate is heavier-duty than the thin, comparatively fragile gate of the original hook, and the over all size and heft is substantially greater as well. For the money, especially compared to other, far more elaborate and expensive options - it's a no brainer. Added bonus, it looks great on the front of your rig. This hook is a great value, highly functional and superb looking.

30 years ago when I started wheeling, we didn't have all the different options that we have today. Now, there's all sorts of different things you can attach to the end of your winch line, but to me, they just seem like the answer to a question nobody asked. When I get stuck, I don't want to have to get out an extra shackle or other technical items in order to make a "correct" and "properly engineered" connection. I don't want to have to take off my gloves or risk dropping shackle pins in the mud and losing them. All I want to do is hook up quickly, simply, and safely so I can start my pull. What I need is a big fat sturdy hook with a wide opening on the end of my winch line and that's what this is. I'm not bashing the other stuff. I'm sure it's good and strong and I can certainly appreciate the engineering that went into it. But for me, quick and simple just makes more sense. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's hard to review something like this right after you get it. It should last for years, almost forever, and without using it a lot it's impossible to say how it will hold up. It looks to be strong and sturdy, well designed. I especially like the heavy-duty safety latch, it looks much stronger than the typical stamped sheet metal ones. However the finish on it is NOT up to Warn standards-it looks poorly applied and uneven.

Great winch hook, typical Warn product. I am sold on Warn winches. They are one of the few great American companies! I do not know why everyone makes a comment about products made in China. A vast number of great products are made in China and have been for over 50 years; most people just did not know, Some of the best power tools are made in Korea. We just do not like to admit that American companies have dropped the ball. It is not American workers; it is the American corporations!

Was exactly what I wanted

I was very excited to get this hook to go with my warn winch and matching epic shackles. I’ve had it for 2 weeks and the only thing I’ve done so far with it was drive down some very mild trails once and rust spots are already developing. Very disappointed considering the quality image Warn projects. It’s better than the stock hook but the coating is not good quality. The hook also was not designed well enough to lay flat as advertised. Instead of having a flat contact patch to lay against your fairlead it has a rounded portion that digs into the fairlead and scratched up my brand new one. It only lays flat if you mess with it for several minutes and feed it in just right (likely scratching your fairlead). Even if you get it to lay flat it will likely drop down while driving hence why I went back to hooking it onto the shackle. I would give it 3 or 4 stars if they didn’t advertise it as laying flat but coating is still subpar.

When I received the product I was so surprised to see how awesome the product was. The description and look online did not give it justice. It was super easy to install and looks great on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator.

En mi caso después de un tiempo se dañó el gancho de fábrica de mi winch, este fue el perfecto reemplazo, sólido, buena estética y completamente funcional como repuesto o como upgrade al gancho original!!
