Works really well as intended. Some might say a tablet can do the same, but for ease of use for my 60plus yr old parents, they appreciate the simplicity. This is also a lot cheaper than an ipad! The video calling works super well. Really clear images that are sharper and smoother when WhatsApp calling or using Facebook messenger compared to my mum's old phone. Needless to say she likes the large screen vs her phone. A really big plus of this go model is that you're not tethered to a power cable. Plus I don't get the terrible angles my mum would hold her phone at, now she can put the portal down and the wide angle camera and auto zooming sorts the view all out so we can focus on what's going on. A side benefit is fantastic speakers. My mum uses this for her youtube and treats it like her boombox in the garden or down the community centre! Finally the picture album mode isn't advertised much on the go, but it's there and will share Facebook albums. Fantastic again for various members of our family to submit photos to that album and for my mum to get them automatically. Slight downside was a slightly faffy set up, luckily my sister was there to help mum, but a large part of that was because mum's abroad in a non Facebook supported country (HK). Great that Amazon delivered to HK direct and overall worked out cheaper! (Presumably something to do with tax) All in all, very happy.

Just bought one of these for my 86 year old mum a few days ago. The primary reasons for buying were: 1. Ease of video calling for WhatsApp rather than using a tablet. My family is in different countries with different devices and so Echo Show isn't an option. 2. Use as a photoframe. Video calling is fine, simple, however the photoframe is a joke. I have a facebook album setup with photos, configured for use with the portal. The problem is that after disabling and enabling the album in the Portal app, it shows two or three different photos and then settles on one. I configured it to refresh every 15 seconds, which it does. But it just refreshes the same picture, time after time. It's shown (refreshed) the same image all day since it woke up this morning. I've Googled for problems, but can't find any answers. Help pages keep mentioning accessing "Superframe" from Settings. The Portal Go settings don't have a "Superframe" option. I've checked for updates, but I'm told I'm on the latest version. I don't believe it's an issue with the photos as they display fine on my Echo Shows and Nix photoframe. Beware this anomaly and also that Facebook are discontinuing Portals for consumers. No mention of this in the sales blurb for the item. Update: Have been in touch with Portal support for a few weeks, no joy, just "fob off" responses. Others are experiencing the same issue. Returning to Amazon for a refund. If you want a decent photoframe feature then avoid the Portal, it's rubbish.

Absolutely love the Facebook portal. I can now ring the grandparents and not worry about having to hold the phone a certain way or a certain distance. The camera or portal moves and adjust so everyone stays in shot. The speakers are also great so your music sounds perfect when playing it.

If you can get one of these while on offer as Meta revamps its range, grab one - they are super value. The microphone and camera are excellent and it works great with WhatsApp video calls. This version works with Microsoft Teams, so useful for Teams meetings - I often use this as a secondary logon device when presenting in Teams so that I can see what other participants are seeing. It is also useful to have a backup if there is a problem with your main machine. The Portal Go supports all the major meeting platforms. The Portal Go also works with Amazon Alexa, so you have voice access to your Alexa skills. It doesn't currently support Amazon Prime Video - and it may never - but UK users will be able to use iPlayer through the browser. As the device is portable, you can pick it up and take to a location with the best lighting for meetings or take it into the kitchen to follow a recipe or listen to music. The camera is much better quality than a typical webcam and it tracks you if you are moving around. The microphone is also excellent and works well even at a distance. Meta is discontinuing consumer Portal devices to focus on enterprise products, but the Portal Go is a relatively new model, so I would expect it to be supported for some time and it should at least continue to work with Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. If you can still find one at the £80 discounted price, the Portal Go is great value.

This is a unit that stands alone. No extra connection is required. Power for this model is by internal battery which charges from a small comnecting head linked to the transformer. This gives it useful portability. Main connections are set up to WhatsApp and Messenger. This won't work on Skype. Set up is easy. Bluetooth is built in as well as a Browser - through which such pages as BBC iPlayer or BBC sounds can be axcessed. Quality of the speakers on the unit is very good with a resounding bass. Bluetooth connection is also open for use. Screensavers can be set up from existing photos. The camera can be covered by a simple manual cover. Contacts can be sound only or video and sounds. The camera tracks the subject and can zoom in or out or move from side to side. That alone is such an improvement from a static one. Add to this voice control via the "portal" and "Alexa" and you have a really interesting piece of kit which should give many years of fun. Highly recommended.

Arnaque, arnaque, arnaque . Acheter au prix neuf (360€) mais produit reconditionné. Des son déballage je remarque que l’écran n’était pas filmé et que le chargeur n’était pas enroulée. Je le met en charge et le chargeur n’est pas prix en charge. Je le déballe maintenant au bout de un mois car c’est pour mes vieux parents qui vive loins de nous. Impossible de trouver un chargeur. I wish I could rate less than ZERO!!! This Facebook portal was purchased with the intention of comunicating with family members especialy grandchildren. Now this darn peace of nothing doesn't even starts; it is not even charging, it does not allow me. I tried everything and nothing seems to work. By looking for information, I realized that most of the app companies I used simply vanish. There seems to be no remedy for this situation except launching a complain with the distric attorney of NY which will be my next step. This is fraudulent and people should have some resort to recuparate the money spent of this peace of garbage. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THESE PRODUCTS SINCE THE COMPANY IS NOT RELIABLE and has taken money from good earning people. Outrageous, dissapointing and extremely furstrating and not fare at all.
