Excellent replacement for droopy hat brims!
I purchased this wire to replace the plastic "wire" in the huge brim of my gardening hat and it turned out great! The original plastic hat "wire" used to stiffen the brim of my favorite gardening/beach hat had worn out and cracked in multiple places causing the brim to sag down to much it made the hat unwearable. I pulled the original stiffener out and fed this wire into the same channel and it works great! My hat brim stands out on it's own and I have my own personal shady spot! This wire spring wire is very sturdy, so I had to use blot cutters to snip it. You won't be able to cut it with just a traditional wire cutter.

Good
Using this for jewelry making. A little stiff. Not the spring wire I was expecting that holds its coil.

Strong, springy
Got this as an alternative to music spring wire, 18 gauge. It t has good spring but is difficult to form by hand, which I need to do. Small kinks result when I exert pressure on it.

Bought but didn't use
I think this is a high quality wire. I was going to make springs for an adjustable shower chair, but just returned and bought a new shower chair

There are many suggestions online for how to bend this material without losing its elastic effect. Some say ' Many say "Heat it" till red, then bend it. Of those, some say "Cool it quickly in ice, cold water, or oil" while others say "Let it cool gradually," all claiming to be the best way to maintain the metal's springiness. From my own experimenting with a lot of research on the exact stainless makeup of this material, I will state. 1) Do NOT heat it, applying a flame or other heat source to it will cause the metal to lose it's electicity, just bend it with pliers in small lengths at a time to shape it beyond it's elastic limit. It will spring back 1% to 10% but slowly shaping it like this will maintain the spring tension in the metal. There is plenty for you to test this for yourself. -- I was looking for a neck braced, over the ear lavalier mic holder because the one I purchased for $80 was too smaii. But from the one I got, it is clear that these are made from 1mm spring steel, so I decided to make my own. This material works perfectly and when shaped and painted black is identical to the much more expensive product. So I made for $8 what would otherwise cost $80+tax that I could not get. And the mic being closer to your mouth sounde much better than pinned to your shirt.

Exactly what it says it is. Using it happily for a project that requires a springy wire. Note: The ends are sharp and can fly around a bit because of the small diameter. Consider using eye protection.
