L'Oréal Paris Excellence Universal Nudes Hair Colour, Ammonia-Free, Micro-Keratine, Triple Care, 100% Grey Coverage, Radiance Boosting, 5U Universal Light Brown

Ever since l'oreal discontinued their preference hair dye in 6.45 Brooklyn (whyyy?) I've been searching for an alternative. It's hard to find an auburn shade that is more red-toned than ginger-toned without going full, vibrant red. This one was a bit more expensive and I couldn't find many reviews, but decided to risk it as I really liked the colour on the box examples. Honestly, I prefer it even to the original preference line. It has a genuinely pleasant smell (no chemical ammonia smell!), I love that it comes with an after-dye shampoo as well as conditioner, and the comb attachment for the bottle is a gamechanger. The colour is definitely a bit deeper and more vibrant than the brooklyn auburn (especially for the first few washes), but it still really looks good and near-natural on my pasty cool skin tone. I don't often write reviews, but for anyone looking for a similarly warm-toned alternative to 6.45- this is an amazing option! I really hope they don't continue this one!

Natural long lasting colour.lightens hair from mousey to shade on the box. Blends my grey hair perfectly with no damage, Colour on the box very accurate.I don't think it would lighten very dark hair, Shampoo and conditioning mask smell lovely and hair feels soft afterwards. Good price for a quality product.

I used this hair dye because I have noticed that my grey hair becomes more visible and after using it, it did a good job to cover the grey hair and having a glossy and rich aspect to it. I liked as well the fact that is gentle to my scalp and the actual colour resembles a lot my natural colour. The application process was easy with everything included in the pack with creamy formula that was easy to apply to all the length of my hair. The colour lasted for few weeks without fading and I would definitely recommend it and will use it in the future.

Hair came out in good condition and shiny with excellent grey coverage. Colour not as expected Light brown came out very dark brown going to try 2 shades lighter next time.

Used this make for years seeing the new box I thought it was just updated but the colour is completely different very very dark with copper tones in the light, My hair is soft and in good condition so that’s good and after shampooing twice a day to lighten the colour for 2 weeks with no results the colour will last so full marks on that, so must choose 2 shades lighter next time

As I waited for this hair dye to work its magic on my greying hair, I decided to order a few bits from Amazon and then read the reviews for the dye. I usually have L'oreal light brown hair dye on subscription but as I was told it was unavailable at present I decided to make a one off purchase of what I thought was the same thing although the picture on the front was of a different woman. Light brown permanent hair dye - same right ? Er no ! I wish I had read the reviews first. It looked different (the box), had a different consistency and then I realised it did not contain any ammonia which I regarded as a win. I followed the instructions to the letter and my light brown/grey hair is now jet black and I look like a fortune teller ! I am very unhappy to put it mildly and see that others have experienced this too, so please do not use this dye if you want to be assured of your regular colour ! Never again. This company should be ashamed of themselves. One star is being generous !

Received this hair dye today and used straight away. I have used this hair dye once before and I liked the idea of this hair dye being universal and it goes with all skin tones but a little heads up the 4u is very dark almost black. Nice dye to use as it doesn't drip and doesn't have a horrible smell to it. Leaves hair nice and soft after dying. I have naturally dark hair and have dyed my hair for years to hide the grey . I have very pale skin and blue eyes and I find this shade to be a little too dark for me. I usually use medium brown hair dye in any make of hair dye but this dye was a lot darker. Next time I might try the next shade up.
