Works as promised but care is required
It removed the odor from my car but the chemical odor took several days to dissipate. I followed all the instructions very carefully and aired the car out as instructed. I even had a high powered fan placed in the car. In addition I left the windows down overnight for several days. The product works as promised but be aware of the lingering chemical odor and possible throat and nasal irritation.

Works well
Be extremely cautious when using this! I wore a chemical respirator and goggles when setting it up and the smell was still overwhelming and potentially dangerous. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BREATHE IN THE GAS! It starts reacting instantly and no readily available equipment will protect you from it. Hold your breath, dump it in water and RUN don't look back or delay for anything. I used the entire bag for a 1200sqft apartment and it worked very well for removing the old pet/mildew smell. I set it up in a 5 gallon bucket with an air stone by the intake to the HVAC system and let it circulate for 24 hours. After 24 hours the smell is still very strong so I'd recommend having a chemical respirator for going in to open windows, at that point it was weak enough the respirator could handle it. But strong enough you don't want to breathe it. There was a faint residual chlorine smell for about a week that was very pleasant in my opinion but is now completely gone. I did the treatment about 5 months ago and it's permanently removed about 95% of the smell. It's good enough for me but I'm pretty sure if I did another treatment it would completely take care of it.

Smoke / Cigarette smell - gone! Mazda3
Purchased a used car that had a smoke smell. I had the car fully detailed and spent a small fortune on ozone and was still left with a smell that would reappear when the car sat in the sun. The ozone did seem to clear the vent system out, but I needed to find something that would get the rest of the smell out of the upholstery. Ozone made me nervous with the possible break down of rubber, electronics and leather, so I did only 2 hours of ozone (though detailer said I needed to do 3-4) and didn't want to do it again for fear of running the interior. After much research, I found companies offering a chlorine dioxide service, but then came across this product. The reviews, ease, and cost sold me and without fear of harm to the interior. Like ozone, I wanted to do the less approach and see the outcome as I could retreat without worry to the electronics and rubbers. The instructions state to park in shade, but that was not possible so I put blankets all over the car blocking out 100% of the sun. I future followed the instructions and used 2oz of warm water to 20 tablets. I put the water in a plastic cup that was 5" tall and put that cup in a plastic shoe box container in case of over foaming or spillage. I laid the back seats down to be able to treat the trunk area as well. Since the car was small, I placed the water container in the backseat on the floorboard. I then added the tablets and swiftly closed the door. After an hour, I grabbed my respirator, and opened the backseat, removed the container and then started the car putting the vents on recirculate to be sure I got it all. I let it run for 20 mins. Once the timer was up, put the respirator back on, turned the car off, all the windows open and let the car air out. The outside temp was hovering around 60 with a nice gentle breeze. The car has a smell of a pool. It's not strong at all. Just a faint smell that is refreshing in a sense. I'm pretty sure after a few days, the smell will be non-existent. I am so incredibly pleased with the outcome and I won't hesitate to use in other applications. I'll even consider a smoker car again since I now feel I can get the smell completely out.

VERY Potent House Deodorizer... But Be Careful!
This is a professional level product that should be treated with extreme care and caution. It creates ClO2 gas very quickly, so you need to be ready to run out the door as soon as you drop the pellets into the water (when doing a home deodorization treatment using the whole bag.) This is difficult if you are doing many rooms at one. For most people, the competitor's premixed packet type chlorine dioxide generator pouches will be a safer option because they give you much more time to exit before activating and are neater and easier to use. However, if you use proper care and need DIY professional level, deep treatment at a fraction of the cost of a pro, this is the product to use. I treated a 500 sq foot room (kitchen and living room). I used two buckets. In the 1st, I put 1 quart of hot water and half the bag of pellets. In the 2nd, I added more water to make it deeper because I wanted to use a boat bubbler to add air, even though the company says it is not necessary. Both began to bubble instantly and caught me off guard. I thought I would have a little more time to turn off the lights etc. before running out the door. Though I was holding my breath, I still managed to end up smelling ClO2 gas in burnt nostrils for the next few hours with a lot of coughing. I will never do this again without a respirator! I managed to snap a pic of the bucket as I was running out, though I really wanted a video but did not have time. I waited 24 hours before opening the doors and windows to start airing it out. The gas was still VERY strong. I ran in, opened a couple windows, and ran out to take a breath, but there is no way to avoid inhaling Clo2 gas at that strength without a respirator. It took many trips to open all the windows, turn on the ceiling fans on high, and install a couple of box fans to move air out the windows. Interestingly, the bucket with the bait bubbler aerator was clear water, but the bucket without was still very yellow. I did not have any ClO2 PPM strips handy to test it, but it was still very potent, I guess well over the 500 range judging by the color. This means the aerated bucket released all of the gas into the room and was therefore more effective for this purpose. The house has been airing out for the last 12 hours with 4 fans running. I entered without holding my breath and it was tolerable, though still unpleasantly strong. I expect it to be habitable by tomorrow, and the smell to be totally gone in a few days. Did it work? I was treating an "old-house" musty smell that I could not identify but has been driving me crazy. I think it is mold in the walls from old water damage that was repaired when I replaced the roof, but the smell just wouldn't go away. I primed with Killz, painted, and cleaned, but it did not help the smell. I treated with an ozone machine, and installed a Reme-Halo in the AC, but the smell persisted... This ClO2 treatment is my last-ditch effort before I start tearing out drywall to find the source. I am hopeful, but I will not know for a few days once the scent of the ClO2 gas has completely dissipated. If there is no update to this review, assume it worked. BTW. I was quoted nearly $1000 by a local pro to do this same treatment. I decided to do it myself as I am familiar with ClO2, or at least thought I was. This is stronger than anything else I have used (when using the entire bag at once for a gas treatment.) Using just a few pellets at a time to make sanitizer will be a different experience and not so scary, but still use caution and store these with care. To be clear, I love the strength of this product. Next time, I will be better prepared with a respirator as the directions recommended but I ignored.

I laughed so hard reading the reviews for this product (sorry). This liberates chlorine gas (literal tear gas, as another reviewer eloquently put it) so you have to respect the danger of using this product and use the right precautions. I didn't have as much of a smell problem as others, it was just that the bathroom of the new flat I was moving into was kinda of dank and musty and I wanted to banish the smell. I threw a few of these in the toilet and ran the hell out of there closing the doors behind me. Came back the next day and everything was fine, it smelled like a swimming pool for a few days which I personally enjoy. All the dankness was eliminated. I'll try using this for spice/curry smells in my kitchen too. The nice thing about this is you get so many, you can get a lot of treatments out of it. If you're trying to do multiple rooms, you need to use PPE. Either do one room at a time and use the chuck and run method, or get yourself a respirator which can filter organic compounds. For the love of god, DON'T HANG AROUND TO "WATCH IT WORK" unless you want to simulate the police brutality experience. It worked in the toilet and sink for me, but if you're doing a bedroom get a deep bucket because it can foam over (I didn't hang around to watch, but I'm told this and have memories from chemistry in sixth form). Also don't drink it or inject it into your children. It won't cure autism, but it will cause an acute exacerbation of asthma or cause chemical burns if that's what you're into. Can't wait to use it again!

Works surprisingly well. Bought a car sight unseen from auction. Absolutely trashed inside from a chain smoker. I was in a pickle. Tried a bunch of things with no luck. Found this, saw great reviews so I bought it. The price was pretty high but it's basically a lifetime supply for you and everyone you know (unless you're a commercial user). I used double the prescribed amount (maybe triple?), dropped the tablets in water according to the instructions and sealed the car up for a day or more. I watched the initial reaction and yellowish gas was forming and coming out of the cups as I would imagine mustard gas might look like (I later found out pure mustard gas is clear). It DEFINITELY looked toxic so I knew it was probably working!! SIDENOTE: DON'T use this inside like in a garage. Quick Tip: If possible, use your remote start once the tablets have dissolved to circulate the gas around inside the car to get in every nook and cranny. Prep: Open every sealed space like the glove box, center console, move the seats so they will be exposed on all sides (not folded down for example), then Set your fan motor on max, set it to circulate around as many areas as possible (forward facing and feet for example, also turn on the rear vents if possible, AC or heat depending on your climate, and ideally turn on the circulate air setting (rather than fresh air). I was shocked to find that the smoke smell had been almost entirely replaced with the smell of a pool. I'm not sure how much of an improvement that was, but in the end it was really effective at removing the smoke smell. Weeks later as the chlorine smell faded, the smoke smell was significantly reduced. To be fair, I hadn't even cleaned the car at this point. A thorough vacuum, wiping down all surfaces (hard and soft) knocked down the remaining smell, and a final quick blast of ozone took care of it for good. Oh and I replaced the cabin air filter. So in short, Yes this product worked, surprisingly well, much better than I expected. Almost nothing works on cigarette smoke. The fact this had any effect is a win but it actually did a great job! There are a lot of cigarette smoke "elimination" products out there but I wouldn't say any work as well as this. If you've got a smokers car, or found a great deal on one, there is hope... this is your first line of defense. It may take additional work but this is a great start. I would highly recommend it! (plus it was super easy)

Works well. Don’t over do it it will explode. Smells like intense chlorine but eventually evaporates. Get a mask if you’re not ready to run out of the space, if you intend in setting multiple zone get yourself a decent mask with filters. You will thank me. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!

Although expensive and delivery time was a little longer than necessary it has been great at removing “boat” smells from my vessel.

I bought a new house and it's a bit old, so it has a bit of an old house vibe I tried many ways to solve it, but none of them worked. Later, when I saw this product, I bought it and tried it out. I used the whole package in a 1300 square foot space and stayed there for 20 hours, which had some effect. Now there is still a slight smell of swimming pool disinfection! Hope for better results!
