Clearspring Organic Barley Malt Syrup 300g

I like a malty, Granary type loaf and unless you purchase from a good bakery you can only have a good one if you bake it yourself. The popular brand names have not produced the tasty bread that they used to for years now. A generous teaspoon of this syrup is added to a small amount of very warm water, stirred in well and topped up with cold water to near the amount required for the loaf. I use scales to measure the exact amount required. It helps to make a pleasing, tasty loaf with a lovely texture which is also endorsed by my neighbours!

First taste was wow, works great in drinks along with honey and lemon, works in tea, a great fresh start to the morning.. Have bought again since first purchase..

Once of my favourite things to do is make bagels and I couldn’t seem to find barley malt syrup in any of the stores. I believe, barley malt syrup is an essential ingredient baking bagels as it enhances both the texture and flavour. I bought this one and it was fantastic. I’ve only used it for making bagels, but I know it can be used in a variety of things. I’ve used it over several weeks and it stayed fresh and worked beautifully. It is rather sticky and can leak on the sides when you pour it out, but I was very happy with this purchase. I will purchase this again next time I make a batch of bagels.

Delivered promptly and well packed. I suddenly fancied some malt but saw this instead. It reminds me of that delicious Virol of years ago .I just eat a spoonful once a day It is rather nice and must be good for you. Malt contains B vitamins. It replaces confectionary which I no longer eat. I wonder if it comes in a bigger jar..?
