beautiful brilliant colours and pencil set, for beginners or professionals artists alike.
i love these pencils. can't say anything more than that really lol. i also own the 120 pencil, tinned versions of the premium and watercolour sets from castle, but of the three tins, these are definately my favourite. i am no artist, i only use them for colouring books (yes i know, a waste of good pencils lol) i just understand shading and highlights and these pencils (as well as the other two sets i mentioned) are some of the best pencils i have ever used. this gold set is oil based they are harder than a wax based pencil but that hardness does not mean they are scratchy and crumbly at all. they are a pleasure to hold and flow beautifully, and seem to prefer non shiny paper, no doubt due to the roughness allowing for the colour to be rubbed off the lead. also, when in bright light conditions unlike wax pencils, they do not shine and have a matt finish. i havent tried liquid blending with these, for example ; zest it, white spirits, naptha (zippo fuel) i start with the light colour and work over with darker shades/white pencil where needed. but even with my less than professional style and finish, they still lay down and blend well enough for me. as an expensive set, i wouldnt recommend them for a young child, although my 15yr old step-daughter makes excellent use of her three tins, just using a dry paper blending stick. also to note... some comments and questions mention that all three tins have the same colours in, but this is not the case at all. all three tins do have some identical shades / names / numbers, but there are many different colours in each tin. where the name/pencil numbers are the same as one inside either of the other two tins, the actual colour of that pencil can and most likely will be a different colour to the other(s) as shown in my picture with pencil number 112 compared from all three tins. i highly recommend choosing the gold set over premium for ease of use and blendability. but, as a whole picture (pardon my pun lol) i actually recommend owning all three 120 pencil sets purely for the versatility of over 300 shades of very good pencils.

Excellent quality for what you are paying. So glad I bought these.
Absolutely fabulous colours, as described, creamy and very smooth and blendable. Do be careful though, keep the cardboard box the pencils arrive in, the tin is protected by the cardboard and this will avoid accidental breakage. One of the points arrived broken, so it needed to be sharpened immediately. A couple of others the tips slightly broken, but still sharp ,perfectly usable in a fine line before needing sharpening again. Excellent value for money and very good quality for the money too. Just take care of them.

Beautiful set with a fantastic set of colours and sturdy construction
A beautiful set of colours with a good range of shades included. The transfer of the colour to paper is beautiful and doesn't leave that scratchy pencil look you'd often get with other sets. The size or the set and value for what you get is fantastic and with first use the quality of the overall product and the pencils in particular was incredible and the recipient hasn't looked anywhere else since for colouring pencils.

Very high quality pencil set from Castle Arts
Just received a set of Castle Art Gold Standard pencils. I went for the more expensive Gold pencils as a special treat to myself and they are certainly very high quality and lovely to use. Great selection of colours that give a very good range. They have a lovely finish and blend together beautifully as I think the oil base really helps. The price was very good when you compare other makes at this level of quality so would recommend them, I’ve already used the Castle Arts watercolour pencils and they are very good so pleased they this Company is selling high quality products.

Fantastic!!!
I love these pencils! They are a great dupe for the most popular ones, I have used these most of the year and they blend like a dream! If you are looking for a fantastic pencil for your colouring but can’t afford the most expensive then these are a beautiful pencil in my humble opinion, I have bought a second set to gift my sister and niece! The only down side is they don’t have open stock, but they have lasted me all year and I do a lot of colouring! This is an honest review I love these pencils! Güzel paketlenmisti hiç sorunsuz teslimat yapıldı boya kalitesinden memnun kaldım daha önce manomi seti kullanıyordum onuda sevdim fakat bu set daha çeşitli tonlara sahip olması nedenli tercih ettim. hobi amacıyla aldığımdan ihtiyacımı karşılar diye düşünüyorum 56 metalik 48 adet pastel tonu mevcut ve çok guzeller kalitesinden çok şüphe ettim ama İyiki tercih etmişim.Ufak bir kusuru mevcut 115 no.lu kalem yok yerine farklı renkten 2 adet konmuş.

Gostei muito deles. Fácil de apontar no apontador de manivela, não quebrei nenhuma ponta. O lápis é macio sem mole. Achei a consistência ideal. Vou aproveitar muito.

When I first started coloring, I bought the standard set of Castle Arts pencils (not the Gold Standard pencils), but found them difficult to work with- I thought they were scratchy, hard to blend, and difficult to lay down color. I read some reviews, and tried out some other pencils. Fast forward two years, and I've amassed quite a collection of pencils that I love. Recently, I'd heard good things about the Gold Standard pencils, and decided to give the Castle Arts another try. I've been very pleasantly surprised! The color range is fantastic, and they are a nice "in between" pencil. The color lays down easily, and they have a slightly creamy texture that blends well (similar to a prismacolor) but they keep a sharper point and don't crumble/break easily or give off a lot of dust (more like a poly), which makes them great for smaller detail work. They also mix well with the Castle Arts pastel pencils (which I also highly recommend) and that allows for a wider range of light colors/highlights. The only downside is that they don't erase as well as some others-but that seems a small tradeoff for a nice basic pencil that I can (and do) use often. I can recommend these are a good set for beginners, as well as a great addition for someone more advanced.
