I bought this for my husband's car because the only type of phone mount for his car (Hyundai Accent) that made sense was one that fit in the air vents. I was worried about the phone mounts that held on to the vent because his phone is heavy and I thought it might fall down a lot. When I saw this phone mount, I was thrilled that there was a way to really secure it. But would it really be that good for a sub-$15 mount? The answer is yes! Installing it was easy enough, though we worried that we'd snap one of the vent slats trying to get it in. That didn't happen, but we did have to try a few different spots to find the best one. We took the advice of another reviewer and waited to install the ball until after we got the actual clip secure in the vent. The mount is SOLID. It's easy to secure and then release the phone and accommodates my husband's Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra in the case. He typically uses his smaller work phone in it, but could use the Samsung without worry if he wanted to.

I originally bought one for myself, but now I gift this to everyone I know! This little stand is so sturdy and convenient. It fits a number a vents perfectly AND it holds my phone super securely! Very easy to adjust if/when you need to, as well!!

Updated review (3/31/2023): OK, so I changed from 3 stars to 4. I noticed it just would not stop wobbling around, so I took it off and put it on a regular vent (not the top where the cracks between the vent slides is thinist to push arm into), and this time it seemed to latch on much smoother. I think, before, I was trying to hook the arm and feel like it was anchored and THEN twisting the lock down feature. This was not letting it properly lock on. This time, I just extended the arm all the way out (the hook will disappear), put the arm in and made sure the arm was all the way in, with the back of the "panel" part touching the vent AND that the arm was absolutely resting on the vent slide... THEN I started twisting the lock into place, letting the hook open and catch the vent slide on its own. Do not attach the phone tray until the arm is secure. Now, I do think I am still going to have issues with movement again, but it did seem to latch on much easier and as of this moment seems to be a firm hold. Either way, this is only going to be temporary while I work on the setup I really want. I will not return it, though. I will keep it in my arsenal in case I need a back up. 4 stars may still be too generous? Too soon to say? But for $10 it is what it is. Original review: So, you do get what is advertised as far as what you physically get. However, the installation process and durability on this this is... frustrating. I can only give it three stars. Three because it DOES work, but it is not very good. In order to get a more secure fit I had to shove this thing into the very top, most narrow vent. I intend to replace this sooner than later so I'm not looking forward to pulling it out of there. The "fish hook" that expands and hooks onto the vent plate is pretty shallow and does not grip well. I can't say how it's REALLY on there, but I can say that, even though it is on, and my phone can sit in it (so far) without falling, it seems like no matter what I do, it just does NOT have a truly snug fit like I have obtained with other vent holders. As I drive around it "slides" to the side, and even the tray that holds the phone that is connected to the arm via a ball joint seems to not stay where I set it, no matter how tight I turn the lock. I am constantly having to readjust it, which I find to be bothersome over and over and over. It's fine if you don't drive much using your phone and just need an inexpensive holder for occasional use... but if you're a driver (like delivery, rideshare, trucking, etc.), then I do NOT recommend this product at all.

Easy to install very sturdy fits any phone

This car cell phone holder has been a great upgrade for me. It solves the exact problem I had with older mounts—where a sharp turn could send both the holder and my phone flying. Not only was that worrying for scratching the phone, it was also a real safety concern while driving. So far, this one has been holding up very well and stays secure even during turns. The design is simple, which I actually see as a big plus. Products like this tend to last longer when there’s less that can go wrong. Overall, it’s been reliable and easy to use, and I’d definitely recommend it.

Fairly well built and works ok but... we found on our Buick Verano the vents were so tight it was very difficult inserting this holder without fear of breaking something. Then it blocked the air and was hard to remove. We tightened it to just short of breaking something (or so we felt) and it still wobbled around. We finally removed the hook part and attached a suction cup for the window and it cured all the problems. The only negative with a window mount is that it may block the view a little.

Sturdy. Great quality. Moves and sticks in whatever position I put it in. Button to release phone is super easy to use with one hand. Hooks onto air vents so well! I've recommended this to so many people and they all love it, too. Not big and doesn't obstruct any view while driving.

I bought this a while back and just finally put it together and put in in my jeep. It is easy to put together and to install in the air vents. My only issue is that I have a pop socket on the back of my phone, so because of that, it doesn't hold my phone as securely as it would without the pop socket. Without it, it would be great and hold it securely. My only other issue, is that I might forget my phone in the car when I use this and that would be a very bad thing. Overall though it is a good device for an older vehicle such as my jeep wrangler.
