At first, when confronted with a four hundred dollar price tag for a cooking pot, the answer is no. HOWEVER, I was ready to buy my second one hundred dollar pot from Amazon, so I had to stop and reconsider. Either spend a hundred dollars every year or spend four hundred and your pot will stay in the family for generations. REALLY? Well, yes. HOW? The reason I buy a hundred dollar cast iron enameled pot every year because cheap pots are made of garbage iron and mine eventually fail under the enamel and generate a super hot spot on the bottom. The metal has failed on molecular level. The hot spot gets so hot that taken off the stove, the pot still boils hard for an entire minute. A nine hour ramen soup simmer ruined, the broth tastes like burned metal. How's a four hundred dollar French pot different? One, it's made in France with good iron, under strict regulations. Two, reputation and millions of dollars at stake, if they ever cheated a little, they would lose because there is competition out there. I saw a set of Le Crueset from 1970s on Reddit and it looked slightly used, if that. Buy it once, buy it for life. I am saving money for my next purchase, a cast iron enameled pan. Look up on YouTube how these pots are made and you will be impressed. My two cents.

I've been wanting one of these for the last three years and I finally got one for Christmas. I absolutely love cooking with this. Making soups, curry and even frying up bacon has been so simple. What I love most about it was the easy cleanup. It may weigh a lot, but the superior quality is worth it. Also, just a note before you purchase this directly from Amazon, you can get Le Creuset and similar products at places like Marshall, Home Goods, and TJ Maxx for 50% of the price listed here. I kept this one just because it would be a hassle to return it. The reason why I say that is because of the hassle it was to deliver the product. You would think I ordered an actual oven the way they took great care to deliver it to my brother's home. A delivery service delivers the products, not UPS or USPS. I will say that as much hassle that went into delivering it...it did make for an excellent gift for a cook/foodie.

I just love Le Creuset. I've had a couple before and wanted/needed a large one for special occasions. You can use gas, electric and oven to cook in these pots. The larger ones are quite heavy-the one drawback. When filled they can get difficult to put in and pull out of the oven. Aside from that they are great. Clean up easily and i know if you care for them (no harsh treatment) they can last over 42 years. I bought the style that can take a hotter over just in case but mostly I use this for low heat over several hours. Color, size all as described. Thankful they are still around all these years.

Bought a Martha Stewart Dutch oven for my son years ago . He used it constantly but it was never large enough and he complained food burned easily. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a Le Creuset. I was unable to find this size or color in any store and could not believe the savings. He was over the moon and uses it several times a week. He can’t believe he didn’t buy one sooner!
