No blade play, great snap, wonderful fit and finish. Main blade is a little short.
This knife has GREAT snap and lockup, very comparable to Bucks chinese made knives. I love carrying my Kamp King or Ulster, but to be honest this knife is built better. The spine will not break if you half rotate two blades at once, which my Ontario/Ka-bar/Ireland made Imperial suffers from. No wiggling whatsoever like my Marbles. I like the traditional can opener compared to Rough Rider's. Now the not-so-good (my opinion) The stag-a-lon handles feel very plasticky.. very solid, but still plasticky. Im sure they will last though. I PREFER the look of shiny/chrome finish rather than this machine finish look. The main blade seems.. too small for this knife, like it had the traditional scout knife blade but was sharpened down to look nubby, when closed you can see it could have been a little longer and wider to give more "meat" for sharpening, seems like they were going for the more svelte blade shape like a Vic or Case. Those critiques are just that, they are nothing against fit and finish (which is A+) just my personal opinion. I cannot compare this to the American made Old Timer or American Made Uncle Henry because i'm not sure if its an original pattern.

It reminds me of my childhood
I love folding knives. Most of mine are Victorinox (and my favourite is a Case XX Slimline Trapper). I bought this Uncle Henry Scout because it is very much like the Cub Scout knife I had when I was a Cub Scout and a Webelos Scout. That knife, 50 years ago, had brown scales and a Cub Scout logo inset. This Uncle Henry has stag scales and no Cub Scout logo, but it's got the same blades: Knife, can opener, bottle opener, straight-blade screwdriver, and awl. It's not an especially high-quality knife like my Victorinox or Case ones, but it's pretty good quality and gives me some nice nostalgia.

Cool, but not what I ordered.
This is a good knife for the money, but it isn't what I ordered. I ordered the old style Uncle Henry, which is what was pictured, and they sent me the new style. It's a cool knife, and I'll keep it, but as a collector, I wanted the discontinued model they were advertising. As far as this new model goes, the stagalon handles look and even feel like antler. The blades and tools are good, fairly thick stainless. It comes with a sharp factory edge, but if you're going to use a knife you should sharpen it, because a factory edge is only good for a minute... The big drawback on this knife is that the bottle opener's tooth hangs up underneath the blade, meaning you'll break your thumbnail or you'll want to open the blade before opening the bottle opener. The blades are thick enough that they rub against each other too, meaning they'll be scratching each other every time you open or close them. It took a decent edge quickly. The spring is tight and the blade and tools all click open with satisfactory snaps. Did I mention it isn't what I ordered?

Great first pocket knife
Just like the cub scout knives of my childhood. Grandkids love it.

Solidly built and comforting to carry. A pocket knife for the using!
Just like my Dad's. I think of him every time I see it or use it. It's a knife from a time when everyone had one in their pocket and it was cool before Tacticool became a thing. Even kids had one an there was no one waiting at every opportunity to frown upon the fact, "He's got a knife!" As kids we used them responsibly or we got our butt handed to us and asked if we'd like seconds! It feels solid and substantial not to mention it instills a certain confidence knowing you're always prepared to open a bottle, a can, cut something, or scratch, pry, ream, or poke around with your awl. Thank you Lord for the days we lived in, Thank you dad for being a man, and thank you Schrade - Uncle Henry for having been there with us, and being with us still today.

Nice Knife at a Great Price
I remember my Boy Scout knife, and I don't recall it being as well made as this Uncle Henry. This knife has much thicker blades, liners and handles. The fit and finish are very good and the materials are top notch. There is one thing I don't like. Where the shackle is attached on one end it scratches the bolsters on both sides when it's rotated from side to side. Other than that I'm very pleased with the knife. It's a little bigger and heavier than I remember my Boy Scout knife. I was planning on carrying it instead of my long term companion, a Swiss Army Knife, but I'm going to give it try. For the money paid it's a great buy.

Great choice for an EDC jackknife
Everything you need for an EDC tool. Always looks shiny clean and new. Love supporting Schrade and Uncle Henry. Holds its edge VERY well!

Gap in the scale.
Being a knife guy, I didn't expect much for 16 bucks. I normally wouldn't waste the money on a 16 dollar knives with the exception of Mora and Ganzo. But I wanted a traditional Americana camp knife that I could carry and use. Like the kind I had as a kid. Unfortunately, it seems that there aren't any American made old school camp knives being produced. Case discontinued theirs and Great Eastern Cutlery only made a limited run, to my knowledge. So my only options are buying a used Case or one of these Chinese knives. If I did find a used Case it would go in to my collection instead of my pocket. So I ordered this Uncle Henry, the Old Timer and the Rough Rider. Today I received the Uncle Henry and the Old Timer. The bail on the Uncle Henry is tight and more secure that the Old Timer. The blade quality and walk and talk are equal in both knives. I would say the blades are good and the walk and talk on both knives are excellent. However, the handle scale on the Uncle Henry has about a millimeter gap on the blade side. I figured I could put some glue in it and clamp it down. But when I push it down the scale was uneven with the bolster indicating that the gap was there when the finishing was being done. I'm exchanging it with another one. Hopefully the next one will be better. But I am happy with the Old Timer.

Nice traditional style scout knife. Good quality. Perfect for kids who are getting into pocket knives or anyone who likes the nostalgia with a scout/camp knife like this.
