All About the Philippines: Stories, Songs, Crafts and Games for Kids (All About...countries) Review: Love it. Very well done. - My son is a bit too young right now to understand what’s in the book. But it will be there when he is. I’ve read it personally, and couldn’t be more happy with the writing, topics, and overall structure for conveying the history, culture and beauty of the Philippines. I have several Filipino history books, which are appropriate for adults. I bought them while staying on the islands. I have been married to a Filipino for almost three years now, and I’ve been to the Philippines on four separate occasions. My stay would probably total close to 100 days. I love history and culture. My wife and I have been to many of the museums, art galleries, several history tours around the Manila area and a couple trips to other places on the island and to other islands. What a well done book. Review: A superb introduction to the Philippines to foster global awareness in children - What a superb introduction to the Philippines for children! Gidget Jimenez does a remarkable job of explaining the diversity of this multi-island nation using three cousins who describe differences and similarities in their daily lives, favorite foods, culture and religions. She synthesizes pertinent history, geography, environmental and cultural issues in a nuanced, but very kid friendly way. Filippino words, games and recipes are sprinkled throughout. This would be easy reading for grade school kids, but parents, grandparents and teachers could read this appealing book to younger kids and they would gain so much. I will wager many adults will learn quite a bit, as I did. Corazon Dandan-Albano's illustrations welcome the reader into the text, with a whimsical appealing charm. This book belongs in schools and libraries everywhere.

Great introduction book
Kids are Filipino Americans and have not had the chance to visit the Philippines, so this was a great book to introduce some of the geography, traditions, food and customs. Got it for 10 year old but could be for someone younger too!

Great children's book. Must improve packaging!
Lovely, colourful illustration that I think kids can really get into. Interesting stories as well. I like that it covered many regions of the Philippines that are so unique from each other. Unfortunately, the packaging was too thin and in transit (I imagine) an otherwise perfect hard copy came dented and ripped along the corners/edge. This is the kind of book you keep for posterity so I hope the seller improves packaging. Would’ve given 5 stars, but for.

Great Book
This is a great book for children to learn about the Philippines. I bought this book to bring in to my daughter’s cultural day for the children to read. The facts and stories are age appropriate and very informational. Since bringing it home, my girls have asked me to read it to them to learn more about their heritage. They are 7 and 4 so I read it to them. I think this is more for 9 and up to read it independently.

Informational, Heartfelt and Credible
Our daughter is adopted from the Philippines and while we have deep heart-connections to the Philippines, we ourselves are not Filipino. Because we love the Philippines, we wanted to provide materials for our daughter to learn about the culture of her heritage. This book is full of fantastic information, but what draws us isn't just the information, it is the heart. You get the sense on every page that while this was clearly written for children and from a child's eye-view, the author was pouring herself into the writing of the book and that she has a deep and abiding love for her country and a desire to represent it faithfully.

I highly recommend this book. It is filled with beautiful illustrations and, most importantly, the information it carries helps some get to know a little about the Philippines and help others reconnect with their origins. I am glad I bought it.
