Very happy with these
They're not cheap, but these picks are the right tool for the job, plain and simple. I decided to give these a try after being frustrated with the Dunlop thumbpicks for a long time - only one thickness, large was way too small, and XL was obscenely large. These picks, however, are super comfortable with no loss of circulation, yet snug enough to stay put. I originally ordered the variety pack so that I could pick a favorite and stick with that, but I actually have found them all useful for different purposes. Red and gray are both good for my normal playing style, electric like Mark Knopfler and Chet Atkins. Black is really useful for acoustic jams with a singer, when it's nice to have more projection and definition of the bass notes when fingerpicking. And blue is what I prefer for playing rock with my band, as I find a thinner pick better for more consistent volume of pick attack, and better for things like quick, repeated downstrokes. I also accidentally put one pick through a pretty rigorous stress test when it fell on the ground and then I unknowingly stepped on it with shoes on. I heard a loud crack and figured it was surely destroyed, but I was wrong! Picked it up, moved the colored part back into position since it was pressed tight against the pick part, and now there's no sign of any damage! Compare that to the Dunlop ones, of which I have broken 3 or 4 just from normal use. Consider me a loyal customer!

One of the best accessories I have found for my guitar playing.
These are great! I’m a 70-year-old picking up the guitar again and have trouble with regular pics. The thumb pick has done wonders for me to Strum and pick consistently with lesser effects from unsteady hands. Because I used my thumb for so long it’s been pretty easy to switch to using the thumb pick and it helps for a clearer sound. I really like them. It’s nice to have the variety of stiffness to use with different types of songs. They fit great and are snug. I don’t know how long the springs last as I just bought them, but from looking at them, they seem to be well built.

OMG! BEST BANJO THUMB PICK EVER!
I've been playing banjo since 1994. I've tried about every flavor of thumb pick around. Invariably they are a little uncomfortable, or they squeak on the strings. I've had luck modifying picks in the past using heat, files, sandpaper, and solvents (even gun oil on a metal pick). But for all the fooling around, the plastic picks eventually break, or I loose a metal pick. I tried these Black Mountain picks on a whim. I had low expectations because I have high standards for a pick. OMG the Black Mountain pick JUST WORKED out of the box. No sanding, no fitting, no fooling around. I did try the four picks in this package until I found the one that I liked best (and that was a hard choice because I liked 3 of the four quite well). I jammed with the black-on-black variant for hours. No pain, never slipped, no string squeak! Are you serious? After, 150 years of finger picking someone finally created the freaking perfect thumb pick! While I would have wished this had come from some kin in Alabama or maybe the Sierras, it looks like the winner was a Canadian in Vancouver BC. After bit of research, I heard one of the bits (maybe a spring) was made in Chicago. I might not have these details exactly right, but I LOVE that this was created in North America and built in North America. Good ideas are hard to come by and I'll take one from my Canadian brethren with the same gratitude I would from my backwoods uncle! Lastly, in the little information sheet that comes with these, the creators suggest, "In order for a thumb pick to feel natural you should expect to play with it for at least fifty hours." I'm guessing that's for people that haven't ever used a thumb pick (maybe for guitar players)? Because I'll tell you, after about 45 seconds, I was wailing on my 5-string like I'd owned that pick for years. Black Mountain - Y'all expect another order for a passel of these from me, 'cus I'm buying enough of these to last me for the rest of my life! Hands down this is the best thumb pick I've ever owned!

The best thumb picks, bar none, but pricing is insanity
I struggled for a long time to find a thumb pick that could work like a standard pick. I was buying all types, cutting them down and reshaping them, but nothing ever worked. Eventually I broke down and ordered the combo pack of Black Mountain picks. The three standard options, while still much better than other thumb picks, have tips that are a bit too long for my and would require me to cut them down. The jazz tip, however, is about perfect. It feels familiar, stays put, and the little bit of give offered by the spring allows me to pick as if I was using my typical Dunlop Flows. And don't cut off circulation to my thumb like other thumb picks do. Overall, these are the best thumb picks around and it's not even close. HOWEVER, the pricing is absurd. A few pennies worth of injection molded plastic and springs for $6 each is an absolute scam. For half that, I would say they are a bit expensive but worth it. With current pricing, what would have been a five star product, I cannot give more than three stars.

Super comfy and easy to use
As a brand new guitar player.....these are AWESOME!!!! I was having difficulty with a regular pick, but just picking with my fingers was no problem (I played a string instrument with a bow for decades, something about the pick is throwing me off). As someone who really only wants to play bluegrass, I decided to just forgo the pick while I got the basics and then add it in later. I discovered these thumb picks and was intrigued - I can still pick with my thumb, but it's using a pick? Turns out, that's exactly what I needed! These picks are comfortable! After reading a bunch about how uncomfortable thumb picks can be, I was nervous. When I first tried these on, they felt tight, but actually playing was perfect! It didn't feel tight at all. The info says you'll need 50 hours to get used to playing with them. That may be true for someone who is set in their ways, but these were magic immediately for me. Thank you! I love the variety of picks in the package. I'm too new to understand the true differences, but I like having options. I appreciate that each pick is listed with it's strength so as I do learn, I will have the tools I need.

These are by far the most comfortable and versatile that I have found.
I am very pleased with the Black Mountain Variety Pack of Spring-Loaded Thumb Picks! As a guitarist for over 20 years, I’ve tried various thumb picks. These are by far the most comfortable and versatile that I have found. The variety pack offers an excellent range of sizes and tensions, making it easy to find the perfect pick for my playing style. The spring-loaded design is key, ensuring a secure fit without being too tight, and the picks stay comfortably in place during long playing sessions. I no longer have to worry about my thumb pick slipping or adjusting mid-song, which is such a relief. The added flexibility also gives me better control and a more natural feel when picking. The quality is top-notch. These thumb picks are durable and made from premium materials, so I know they’ll hold up even with frequent use. The different sizes and tensions in the variety pack allow for customization based on the music I’m playing, whether I need a light touch for delicate strumming or more pressure for a heavier picking style. The comfort and performance of these picks have really helped improve my overall playing experience. I highly recommend them to any guitarist—whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, these picks will enhance your playing and offer lasting comfort.
