I needed a more sturdy tamper for my espresso machine, outside of the standard plastic it came with and this one works perfectly! I instantly saw & tasted a difference. It fits perfect for my machine and looks like it was expensive.

Great tamp for espressos at home. My husband and I got an espresso machine at Christmas that came with a lightweight plastic tamp that wasn’t very effective. This tamp was a serious upgrade . It has a weight to it to make tamping easy. Sturdy and good value. I think it looks nice, too!

This tamper works, and yes it's stainless steel and wood. However, the diameter is a tad more narrow than 51mm, which leaves a bit of clearance around the edges, and the handle is held onto the steel part using a plastic screw fitting. This works fine, and the plastic is hidden inside, but it would certainly break if you dropped it a short distance or mishandled it in some other way. But, hey, it's really affordable and it both looks nice and works.

Very beautiful wooden knob, heavy in a good way to tamp down the coffee, but small in diameter for my espresso metal cup inserts for my baby gaggia machine. I move it around to tamp the coffee evenly, to overcome the smaller diameter. Fantastic feel in my hand.
