Jetson J5 Electric Bike

I've had my bike for a few months now. I do ride it to work everyday. Just recently had to swap out the tires, it was easy. Which was not bad. I definitely recommend learning how to care for your bike, it will make it last long and ride smoothly. I live is SD great riding weather 11 months out of the year. I ride 6 miles a day everyday for work. 3 miles is a 15min ride. If I pedal the whole time it's an 8min ride. Please keep in mind I am a little person 4'9" and 120lbs. Perfect bike for me. It came right to my door, ready to go. I did have to get the seat cut because yes!! it was still a little too big for me.

I would absolutely not but another product from Jetson. Purchased the j5 and within a few rides the front wheel nut fell off causing the front wheel to turn in, bending the front fork, and brake rotor. We filed a warranty claim with Jetson and they were pretty unresponsive, answering emails every 2-3 days continuing to ask for the same details. We ended up returning to Amazon. We purchased a second one thinking it was just a mishap but again within a few rides the latch that holds folding handlebars became loose causing the entire handlebar post to become loose and unrideable. We returned this unit to Amazon as well. These bikes are not well made and I would advise doing some good consumer research before purchasing.

Great for getting around the campground

This product is a good beginner e-bike for adults or older children. It doesn't go super fast or super far, but should be good for last mile transport, leisurely cruises, that sort of thing. It rides nicely and brakes well. It's also pretty easy to install. The insertion of the handlebar might be a bit annoying, but just remember to insert it in when the handlebar base part is bent. I do have some moderate gripes and one really big one. Let's start with the moderate ones. - The packaging was not good. Part of the metal tubes that make up the rear shelf was crushed during shipment. Not a huge deal as I don't think I'll be using it much and even if I do, it's still usable. I also bet the manufacturer would replace it if you complained. However, not good for something this expensive, and that is always a hassle. - The hinge for the handlebars has a clip. I had to tighten/lower a bolt inside the clip (not a lot of space, had to use a very small wrench) to have clearance in order for the clip to clear. No word of that in the instructions. But if you can turn a wrench, you can figure it out. -It seems to want to tip away from the kickstand. Not sure why this is happening. I think the kickstand is a bit too tall, and the center of gravity is too high. I lean it against the wall. Not a big deal for me, but bummer for something so expensive. -There is zero security on this thing. anyone with a thumb can turn it on and ride it away. Doesn't seem like a lot of e-bikes have security but... this is something to consider later on when others do. -THE MAJOR PROBLEM- this bike has a more attractive older sibling. And this sibling saves you more money. Jetson makes an e-bike called the bolt pro. It has integrated lights/taillights and the specs are pretty much identical to this. And it's cheaper. By a lot. I've seen on multiple store FAQs and question/answer sections why would anyone get this over the bolt pro. Then the customer service rep just regurgitates the specs of both bikes. BUT THEY ARE NEARLY THE SAME. The main difference as far as I can see is the design is 'updated' on the J5 (and IMO slightly better). But you miss out on the lighting functionality. and a few hundred dollars. I can't really think of a compelling reason to pick this over the other product, unless you enjoy being a bike ninja in the darkness, and you also hate having money. In a vacuum, I think this would be a 4.5 star product. It is a competent e-bike despite my moderate gripes. But because of the cons, it's a 3.5 star product. I'll round it up to 4 because it probably won't be this price forever, and the Bolt Pro will probably get phased out.

This bike has delivered on everything it promises. It is very easy to use this, even if you've only used traditional bikes before. A larger bike would probably be better for riding but this small bike has been amazing for storage and taking in a car. PROS - Great use: I have had no complaints about how it works. There are no glitches or bugs on the hardware. The motor starts just as expected. - Compact: This is my favorite feature, even it it has drawbacks (check the CONS section). The front board bends down and the pedals fold in. This makes it very easy to put the bike in the trunk, in the back seat, or even the front seat. I'm in a vanpool but sometimes need to get places at my arrival location. This bike is easy to take in the van and then ride around. - Lightweight: I have average strength for a grown man. This is still very easy to pick up. There is even a handle on the center of the bike for easy carry. - Simple controls: There is a power button and a throttle for direct bike controls. No more needed. - Battery indicator: The indicator is fine. There are basically 4 bars that tell you at which level the battery is at. - Back rack: It does not come with a basket but it is a very nice addition. It sits low but you can see from the Amazon pictures where it is placed. CONS - Small tires: This is my only complaint but it probably comes with the feature of having the bike compact. Because the tires are small, you definitely feel every bump. It does not feel unsafe, but sometimes painful so you need to watch where you ride. The small tires also make it so that you have to pedal many cycles when you're using assisted pedal. Overall, it is a very good product. It seems to be just as advertised. I would call it a 5 star product as long as you know to expect the small tires.

The bike does not work. It does not start the clock or the motor. It was obviously used and returned. It is disrespectful to send someone a broken product of that size and weight, because it is difficult to return. When I tried to replace the bike, it was already "sold out".

This electric bike is a game changer. This Is Not A Toy. I do not recommend this for beginner bike riders. It may look like a simple bike but it is packed with speed. It works by pressing the on button to use the electric throttle which goes up to 15 mph but when the pedal is being used it goes about 30 mph. I would recommend easing into using the throttle and braking. This electric bike can be used by a number of people recommended age 12 and above and up to 265lbs. This would make a great gift and even can be used for transportation for someone working or going to school. There are brakes on the handle bar for easy stopping and a reflector and a bell. The bike can be easily stored and transported by removing or folding the handle bar and removing the seat. Both the handle bar and seat is adjustable to ones height. The battery level is displayed on the handle bar as well. I would recommend if riding at night add a headlight to see and be seen by others. Overall, I would recommend this electric bike. Ride and enjoy!

Port is on the belly of the bike, soon as you lose the rubber plug it fills with dirt and mud. Which eventually you will not be able to charge bike or fix it! Lame
