This adapter bracket handles the annoying bump at the bottom of Sony tvs. Don't try to jury-rig something else when you can get this bracket. It will stick out from the back a bit but still worth using. Glad I ordered this.

Works perfectly with older model Sony KDL-50W700B, allowing TV to be attached to a standard VESA mount. Installation, including attaching adapter kit and subsequent hookup to VESA mount, was straightforward and relatively quick. Could not be more pleased.
