Wilderness: The Lost Writings of Jim Morrison, Volume 1

I'm so glad I ordered this book, I LOVE Jim Morrison, such a great poet, I can EASILY get lost in the pages. I love that his actual handwriting is copied in the book along with his almost rare and unseen photos..I plan on ordering volumes 2 and 3 as well with any other books about him, poetry or whatever. Jim. Morrison was a poet at heart..also without Jim, there would be no " DOORS". He was a great soul who left this world entirely too soon. BUT, I can't help but wonder if he's still alive, somewhere living a simple quiet life without all the fame pain..But anyways, an EXCELLENT read.

I love how you can see his writing of the poem & as it is typed. If you dabble in poetry yourself, this could be used as a guideline to make your own book!

Always a great treasure. Bought a copy for my 17 year old daughter! Morrisons poetry is underrated!

I hate to keep repeating myself, but... This is a fabulous book! Anyone who loves Jim Morrison will love this book. These are some of his early writings and they are just wonderful. I think he was well ahead of his time with his ideas and thoughts. Really makes you think and ponder the times. Give it a try............you won't be disappointed. His poetry books are really something to treasure. I would have given anything to be able to sit and talk to him about his ideas way back when. He was here on earth such a short time...

While Wilderness definitely has its moments and strengths, in my opinion it is a pale comparison to an American Night or Lords and New Creatures (which to me is his best poetic work). By the time we get to Wilderness, Morrison seems very focused on himself and his surroundings, and the larger truths he is reflecting upon seem to be more a subject of his circumstances rather than universal experience. If you want introspective Jim Morrison, this the probably the one you want. If you are looking for poetics and philosophy, Lords and New Creatures is a better place to start.

I got this to replace my copy that went missing. I love Morrison's poetry, and was happy when I found it again.

A friend got me this book years ago as a gift and I always loved it... lent it to someone who never returned it so I bought another copy. I've read it several times, never gets old. His writings are deep.

Great book. I understand that few people think that these poems should have been left unpublished because these could not be the best of Morrison. Agreed. But if you are person who loves Jim Morrison, this book will make you feel like you're in touch with him. The book has a few doodles and images of his writings. Lets just say it is a must have for any Jim Morrison Fan.

Sometimes even lovers of Doors-Music and the mystic charms of legendary singer and rock performer Jim Morrison call his lyrics not so much artistic but artifical, general ideas and phrases collected from other writers (such as William Blake, Céline, Rimbaud, Anais Nin and obviously Bert Brecht), saying Jim Morrison was much more a gifted compiler than creative searcher for new poetic expressions. To make a long story short - to me Jim Morrison the singer and James Douglas Morrison the poet, two facets of the same person, are hard working and successful artists while specifically the poet deserves more attention and careful readers. Just do some close reading of the great poem "Round-up Rondolay Rhonda", and take a break with "The opening of the trunk" - and you will find a great American poet far from the vanities and temptations of Rock'n'Roll circus. Yesterday in the evening, after a long and hot day in the office, I came home, took myself a beer, went out and read Morrisons poetry while waves of heated air flooded the garden, leaving roasted roses and birds tumbling through jelly air. "We could plan a murder or start a religion."

Poemas de Jim Morrison, sólo para fans pero es interesante. Yo personalmente no los había leído. Algunos están con su letra original. Por el precio está muy bien. No esperes una calidad de las hojas y una edición impresionante, pero es realmente barato y curioso.
