Very effective and good value for money - apply regularly, though!
Very good slug pellets - I have seen slugs digesting them, and slowly drying up. The pellets work by containing suet and fat, making the slugs eat them before eating anything else. It then stops the slugs from having hunger signals, and so they slowly starve to death, leaving just a faint trail of slime behind. You do have to reapply regularly, especially after a heavy rainfall, because the soil soaks them up. When applied correctly, they are very effective pellets. Great value for money as well, given the quantity.

Effective alternative to banned pellets.
I am not a great one for garden chemicals. I find with aphids, for example, that if you leave them alone tits and ladybirds, especially their larvae, will do a fine job in clearing them, lacewing populations grow and, especially early in the season, wasps kill and eat a fair old number. I must admit though I do control vine weevils and the bright red Lily beetle, and this year has been particularly bad for slugs. Any young plants planted out were eaten down to ground level overnight. The old standby was slug pellets containing metaldehyde, which affected mucus production, resulting in trails of slime and dead slugs around treated areas. The pellets were usually blue to make them less effective to birds, but they still affected other wildlife including animals and birds eating the dead, poisoned slugs, the chemical contaminated water supplies and pets sometimes ate pellets making them ill. So, the chemical was banned for agricultural use in April, 2022.There is a misconception blue pellets were banned, but it is just that particular formulation. These pellets are also blue and contain ferric phosphate which effectively prevents slugs from eating, so they starve to death. It appears to be less effective as there are usually no slugs to be found around the treated areas. This is because it doesn’t kill slugs instantly, they can’t eat so they go off to hide where they die unseen. The real effect can be seen in the lack of damage rather than the lack of slugs. It has the advantage there are no dead slugs to dispose of, but the disadvantage is that the decomposing bodies of the hidden dead slugs could attract more slugs. Slugs might be annoying when they eat seedlings but they do a fine, unheralded job, as scavengers carrying out garden, garbage disposal of organic matter and even carrion. They are also food for amphibians, many birds and hedgehogs so in areas of the garden where they are not a problem, and most plants can afford a few nibbled leaves, it is best to leave them be and limit protection to susceptible crops and young plants where this product seems to work well. The container has a small hole at the top, nothing technical, which allows you to shake out enough pellets with a single shake to protect a small area around a plant without touching the pellets at all. There are enough for at least a couple of seasons or more with my limited slug control on small sections of the garden so for me it is an excellent product at a good price.

Amazing. Dont hesitate. Buy this
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I was sceptical. Ive tried almost everything. My area was absolutely COVERED in slugs and snails. Massive ones too. Theyd get inside the house, i was removing them multiple times a day and i couldnt walk to car or empty bins without hopping around them. I bought this but honestly didnt expect much. And some reviews furthered my scepticism. Ive just bought 3 more bottles of this. Since using these pellets for a month ive not seen a single slug or snail inside or around my house. In this 1 month ive spread these pellets 2 times. Around the perimeter of my house and along the sides of my path and near my bins. They area amazing. Amazing. Its been raining heavily for the past week and id expected to see some slugs but nope. None Yes, they do go somewhat mouldy after a while (with moisture) but that goes away, its safe for edible plants and id much rather that than slugs!

Provides long-lasting control
As a customer who has used PROTECT GARDEN Slug & Snail Killer Max, I am providing a review outlining the good and bad aspects of this product. The good: 1. Effective slug and snail control: PROTECT GARDEN Slug & Snail Killer Max is highly effective in controlling slugs and snails in the garden. The powerful pellets contain an active ingredient that attracts and kills these pests, helping to protect ornamental plants and garden vegetables from damage. 2. Organic gardening approved: One of the advantages of this product is that it is approved for use in organic gardening. This means that it can be used to protect plants in a way that aligns with organic gardening principles, minimizing the use of synthetic chemicals. 3. Easy application: The pellets are easy to apply, either by scattering them around the affected areas or placing them in slug and snail traps. This makes it convenient to target specific areas of the garden or to protect individual plants. 4. Long-lasting control: PROTECT GARDEN Slug & Snail Killer Max provides long-lasting control, keeping slugs and snails at bay for an extended period. This reduces the need for frequent reapplication and helps to maintain plant health. The bad: 1. Potential harm to non-target organisms: Like many slug and snail control products, there is a risk of harm to non-target organisms, such as beneficial insects or wildlife that may come into contact with the pellets. It is important to follow the instructions carefully and use the product sparingly and responsibly. 2. Persistence of slug and snail populations: While PROTECT GARDEN Slug & Snail Killer Max is effective in reducing slug and snail populations, it may not provide complete eradication. In areas with high slug and snail activity or during wet weather conditions, additional control measures or repeated applications may be necessary. 3. Attraction to pets or wildlife: The pellets may be attractive to pets or wildlife, so it is important to prevent access to treated areas. Store the product securely and keep it out of reach of children and animals. Overall, PROTECT GARDEN Slug & Snail Killer Max is an effective solution for controlling slugs and snails in the garden. It offers easy application, long-lasting control, and is approved for organic gardening. However, care should be taken to minimize the impact on non-target organisms and to prevent access by pets or wildlife. Following the instructions and using the product responsibly will help protect plants while minimizing environmental impacts.

Seems to work but goes mouldy
Easy to use. Seems to work with the slugs, a few have managed to evade them. Since I've put them down it has rained and they have become mouldy which isn't ideal.

It really really REALLY works!
'Protect Garden' is life changing! I used to lie awake in the early hours of the morning visualising the slithering gastropods munching their way through my last remaining & ailing cucumber plant (5 attempts! All destroyed!), decimating my young chrysanthemum plants and levelling my sweet peas. I would be compelled to be prowling my garden in my nightie at 1am armed with torch, tongs and the kitchen salt. The slaughter would be wholesale but so was the damage, and morning would reveal slime, monopod corpses and catastrophic devastation to cherished plants. I tried multiple brands of slug pellets (I could hear the enemy sniggering), ramparts, bastions, gloop, garlic water (I like how the French turned the tables on the rampaging molluscs) & rings of defence. Nothing held back the voracious hordes. Then I read the review from the fellow sufferer who said that "up to 90 slugs a night" would be extracted from his plants until he used this product. The next night - just a few and since then.... nothing. Nada. No slugs. No snails. With hope in my heart but cynicism in my head I ordered some - just the one (more money being thrown at the swines) - and duly scattered the small blue pellets. 1am that night - not a slug nor snail to be seen. Morning....no devastation. No damage AT ALL. A week has gone by and not one single gastropod. Not one single corpse either, not one damaged plant, no slime trails, nothing. They packed up their little suitcases and left. I imagine that my neighbour's gardens are now a wasteland but I'm sleeping peacefully now, and I am the one doing the sniggering. Buy it, it works, it really REALLY does. Not even nematodes were this effective. Just ordered two more containers to get ahead of the rush when this amazing product gets discovered. Certified organic, marvellous. I don't know how it works but it does. Its a small miracle but I will take anything that I can get. May even try planting Swiss Chard again next year.

Slugs begone !!
Very good product , kept the slugs well away from my lettuce while they were still growing , I think I read that the pellets are good for the soil too as they biodegrade down . I also think they are really good value price wise too .

Worked well to protect plants
Easy to use - just tip and shake the container and place the pellets will fall out around your plants - only use on top of already damp soil. They seem very effective in preventing the plants being eaten - prior to using this plants have all but disappeared overnight. I chose this brand because it’s not toxic to dogs/pets. The pellets last several weeks and then you will need to use again to maintain the protection. The container is large though and will provide several doses. They are blue (but you don’t really notice them) and they disappear over time - they are eaten by slugs and eventually dissolve. My plants have grown well since using these.
