Purchased card reader to go along with 1TB AV Pro MK2 card. I highly recommend for firmware updates to Angelbird CFEXPRESS cards. My experience of updating firmware has been positive. The updated firmware helped with thermal management and performance in my Z9 while shooting 8k60 RAW video. The body of card reader is well built and secure connection is a bonus.

I bought this to be used in canon r5c for raw video copying from Angelbird se cf card.it works fine however I was not able to update the firmware as illustrated by Angelbird website and guidelines, this didn't work on Mac-ventura unfortunately.but the cf card worked as expected and even copying the videos on the computer was fast.

I purchased Angelbird CFexpress Card Reader Mk2 as a "upgrade" to my Prograde CFexpress dual slot (https://www.amazon.com/ProGrade-Digital-Professional-Filmmakers-Photographers/dp/B085PWGSMT/ref=sr_1_2_sspa) that has a USB 3.2 Gen2x1 (10 Gbps) connection and tops out at 925 MB/s [what I would expect] and I wanted to maximize my USB 20 Gbps connection. However the Angelbird only gets 559 MB/s using the same 1TB Angelbird card, USB 3.2 Gen2x2 (20 Gbps) host connection with the included Angelbird cable.So not only did the Angelbird NOT maximize my 20 Gbps connection it was SLOWER.2nd, when I went to use a longer (36" vs the included 18") the "hole" that you have to slide the cable into is a "proprietary" flat shape that only accepts Angelbird cables. I tried 3 other "official USB I/F certified cables" USB 3.2 Gen2x2 cables (They tend to be much thicker than "generic" USB-C cables) and all of them did not fit and thus you are required to buy a $26 Angelbird proprietary cable (https://www.amazon.com/Angelbird-USB-3-2-Cable-100cm/dp/B07RQQ2RJN/ref=sr_1_4) if you want to get from the back of the desktop to the front.The only reason I did not give it 2 stars was that Angelbird support did reply, but said that was the "expected" performance.

Absolutely was looking to switch my gear over from SanDisk and ProGrade, and try some of Angelbird's more expensive offerings. When I found out through my own experiences and other photo/cinema folks I've spoken to that this company basically has a policy of simply not responding to customers, ever, I'm steering clear from them from now on.It's a shame because their devices are good. But I won't give money to a company that resents or doesn't want to deal with their customers.Note this wasn't about a warranty refusal. It was that they refused to even respond at all. And I'm not the only one in that boat. Yes I know their site paints a rosy picture about how concerned and supportive they are. Go ahead and try to get a response from them for yourself when you have an actual problem. Their site and packaging is says "We won't abandon you for DIY hacks" -- but they've already abandoned you. For anything. As soon as they've got your money.The cards are pretty decent though. Just unbacked/unsupported completely.

If you have anglebird cards, you will need this to update their firmwares. Other company may not let you update the cfexpress firmware without sending the cards back to manufacturer. This is a great point for Anglebird. Nice all metal construction but they should have put the serial number in a different location as it is covered by the rubbery pads once installed. It is also significantly heavier and larger than the ultra portable Delkin which I use when not at home

As a card reader, it's great, super fast, no problems there. The design is theoretically awesome, built like a tank, but it's over engineered, way too big, heavy, and has the dumbest "secure connection" USB design I've ever seen.I've never had issues with USB-C not having a secure connection, so I don't know why they decided to have a super recessed port that limits the types of USB cables you can use (forget about right angle cables). Even if you manage to fit your own cable (maybe I want a 3 foot cable? too unreasonable??) you're stuck pushing/pulling on the cord to plug/unplug the cable, which is a surefire way of destroying your cable.Angelbird, if you're reading this, please do away with this "SOLID CONNECT", it's an anti-feature, not a selling point.
