Beautiful Al Ghazali
Al Ghazali, a great Iman-turned-Sufi, is almost the perfect blend of rational and straightforward teachings and mystical transmissions. This book is a great treatise on the heart/soul and the nafs that either serve as destroyers of the path or helpers on the path (depending upon one's relationship to them). I have found it to be surprisingly approachable and understandable, with enough mysticism and layers to appeal to the advanced seeker. I highly recommend it.

Only dummies don't read this.
Unless you are lucky enough to enroll at a course in zaytuna.... why not just read through this man's Genius... one of many books that make up the set, it is a must for every muslim home... so great is the philosophy of imam al ghazali, the west bothered to translate it to learn from it. Read also the book of afterlife....

One of the best books about the heart
This book is written by a great Islamic philosopher and I say great because I've read many of his books from Ihya 3ulum aldin and until now it is the best islamic philosophical readings. MUST READ.
