Perfect for a Squire Modern Jaguar
Pickguard needed a tiny bit of filing in order to get the pickup to fit. Holes line up perfectly. Installed 1 Bourns 500k pot for volume and 1 Bourns 500k pot (PushPull) for the tone. Wired pickup in Series Humbucker with Single-Coil Option on the P/P. 100% Passive. 2 distinct sounds (Humbucker = StingRay Growl and Single Coil = PBass) Excellent upgrade to any MM style bass - A MUST for the ultra-dark and muted stock pickup on the Squire Jaguar. Highly Recommend. Note: Parallel Humbucking resulted in an unpleasant phasey and harsh sound and that's why I opted for the single coil option. With proper shielding there is little to no hum in Single Coil mode.

Major Upgrade
I combined this with Seymour Duncan SMB-4A preamp kit which converted it to a 3 Band eq and the results are quite stunning. Makes my $300 Sterling Sting Ray bass sound and play like a 1970's MM Stingray. Well perhaps not quite but still great sustain, tone and no dropouts.

I used this pickup to replace the ceramic one in my Sterling Ray24CA to get closer to the sound of the pre Ernie Ball Stingrays. Along with upgrading the 2 band preamp I think I now have the sound I am after, to my ears, this pickup delivers.

Wonderful full tone and beautiful string ray sound. Couldn’t have picked a better pickup. Strongly recommend for people looking for a vintage stingray tone.

L'ho montato su un Eko MM300 e devo dire che con poche modifiche il basso ha acquistato molto. Con questo pickup della S&D (smb-4a) ha acquistato un bel suono corposo ricco di medie-alte anni 70/80. Collegato in parallelo sui due volumi, da parecchie sfumature al suono. Ottimo

Exactly the sound I was looking for! Early Musicman/Modulus Flea sound. Recorded with this pickup on my Musicman already and cuts through the mix easily. It's now my favourite bass!
