I purchased this in error, thinking it was a complete kit. I made this error based on the picture of the case and a compass together. I guess it pays to read too! This case now houses a compass I purchased from a different provider/seller. It fit fine in this case and is now well protected. Great quality!

Suitable fit

The case is about twice the thickness needed to protect an MC2 compass. I would have preferred it to be thinner. If you need extra space to carry other items, then you have it. The case is stiff and will do its job, however it's not padded inside. FYI, the case is about a quarter inch too short in length to fit the MC3 compass lying flat. You can angle one into the case, but then one end of the compass will be resting against the zipper.

Will keep you from scratching your compass. The fit is good. Should be around $5. It is not expedition gear.

The Suunto MC2 is a quality sighting compass and should be protected. This does the job. Not a good case for working in the field though (no belt loop, side zipper). One side firmly holds the compass and the other side can hold credit card sized slot protractors and a small pencil.

This is a great case and serves my needs 100%. After receiving the compass, I was concerned about it being damaged if just tossed loosely into my bag, or even tucked away under something. This case gives me just enough protection that it’s one less thing that I need to worry about. Good value. I expect that it will last for a long time (it’s not like I’m using a compass everyday).

I bought case for my Silva compass it has nice mesh pouch on one side on other side has elastic band to carry something else. In my mind I have no doubt the compass is protected from impact my concern is loosing it! It has one attachments point no mole system to attach to your pack. It has sewn on loop with very small ring, cheap beener to clip it to something no way to secure to shoulder strap on a pack with out it swaying around
