Victron Energy Lynx Smart BMS 500 M8 – Battery Management System for Smart Lithium Batteries, Bluetooth Monitoring, 500A Shunt, Pre-Charge, Contactor, Blue

Bought this used for about half price. My primary uses are for emergency battery bank disconnect and the shunt. My power plant is almost all Victron gear, and this device replaces my BMV 712. The Good: - seamlessly integrates shunt between lynx power in and distribution bus bars. - adds remote on/off switch capability to disconnect the battery bank. - the pre-charge feature prevents BMS on non Victron batteries from disconnecting. - allows DVCC to manage charge amperage to batteries. - 500A capacity is more than needed, with room to grow. - same superior quality and integration I’ve come to rely on for my off grid system. The “Cons” (of using out of spec) - requires the 3pin connector cable as jumper to allow load if not using Victron batteries. (I don’t have Victron batteries and didn’t buy this for its BMS capability.) Misc. thoughts: I was on the fence about buying this for a couple years. Wasn’t sure I could get enough functionality for the cost. Now that I’ve got it, it does more than I hoped (gets DVCC playing very nicely). Huge relief knowing the one emergency stop switch turns off the Multi’s, the MPPT RS, and disconnects the battery bank in case of emergency. (Now to find a decal since I had to mount it upside down 🤣)
