This one does the job
This product is great. I used it once 1 1/2 years ago and kept the line clear of roots until just recently. Should have been using it every 6 months as recommended, my bad. Had to call the plumber to router the outlet and that gets pricey. Now we are committed to using it every 4 months so we can be sure the pipe stays clear.

Kept back Tree of Heaven roots!
Figured I’d write a review to help out others. When I first moved into my home the sewer was backed up, so Roto Rooter came out and snaked my whole line. When he brought the snake back out the roots were obviously the issue. It wasn’t long after that I learned the large tree in my yard was a Tree of Heaven, which sprouts baby trees directly off of its root system, go figure. Anyways, I treated my system with this stuff 3-4 times a year and I never had a plumbing issue again. I do not have a clean out in my home, so use the toilet method. We removed the tree a few years ago and this hasn’t been needed since, but I think I’ll treat the line this spring as a preventative. I recommend this product. I would do half a bottle and then follow up the next week with the second half.

Inexpensive source of what everyone recommends for keeping drain pipes clear of roots.
We bought this on recommendation of our plumber after he cleared our sewer drain of roots. It is widely recommended for that purpose, and time will tell if it prevents the reoccurrence of the problem. If you need Calcium Sulfate, this is the least expensive per-unit packaging we found.

Great for maintining drain system from invasive roots
This is a great product--easy to use, only needs to be used twice a year, and you likely don't need to use the whole container each time, just half (according to the instructions), so this jug will last a year. I do recommend you have your drain augured well (just about $200), and use this as maintenance to prevent further growth. I don't know if this would be powerful enough to destroy existing root balls in your drains. I have not tried this method, but this is what has been recommended to us: fill your bathtub with hot water, wait until everyone is done using water for the day, then dump this in the toilet and flush. Wait until morning, then allow the bathtub to drain fully through your system. Repeat every 6ish months!

Excellent Preventative Maintenance for Septic Systems
If you have a septic system, one of the biggest issues are roots growing into and clogging your drain field lines. This gets flushed down your toilet and helps kill any roots trying to grow into the drain lines. I use this once every 6 months.

Won me over!! - Not so much - Update 12/1/18
I originally purchased Robetic Root Kill 1lb for $20 @ Home Depot. Ouch. It didn't work. Which I found out halfway through treatment time, that you need 1lb per 50 feet of sewer line. I have at least 100 ft. I had started researching on Amazon other products and stumbled across this. I know where my clean out pipe is, so I dumped 1/2 bottle which is about 50 feet to where the tree and roots are. Then went upstairs to my toilet closest to the main line and dumped the rest in the toilet. Flushed about 3 times. I let it sit for 8 hours. My basement did have some water back up when we resumed water usage. But a day later, the clean out is clear and bone dry! (Before water was visible in the clean out when I added the root kill) And 3 showers have been taken and still no back up. This product is amazing!! I have a friend who just had the same problem as me and she has been buying Zep. What is upsetting is I had JUST used a water jet about 3 months ago and thought I had the lines cleared of roots. But most likely what I thought was a bend in the pipe was most likely a gob of roots. If I had this I would have treated the line right away. But I will ALWAYS have this on hand for seasonal treatment. And this is coming from someone who has tried everything out there. UPDATE: My sewer is backing up again and this time it's really bad, even the clean out has water coming up. You would think after using this my sewer wouldn't back up THIS bad. I was at True Value yesterday and picked up a 2lb of Rooto Root Kill. This time I dumped 1/2 lb and flushed 3 times. Only I'm not even able to do that without it backing up. So I waited an hour, dumped half in and flushed 3 times. But my third half dump. I did 2 flushes and checked, the water is backed up. I dumped the remainder and will wait 30 mins to finish out the flushing. Will update. But I think I will buy another container and treat again in a week. Crazy for something that should kill roots, should work the first time. After all this. I'm wishing I rented the industrial snake from Home Depot.
