Nature Magic!
Wonderful kit! What I would say to people looking to buy this product is one you are getting a leopard frog in the end - that unlike caterpillars and butterflies you cannot release and will depend on you through its delicate transformation from tadpole to frog. Pay special attention to the water. Our first tadpoles didn’t survive (one was dead on arrival and the other died 3 days later) and it could have been the toxic water from the first tadpole poisoned it or it could have been me not understanding the care needs.. they sent more tadpoles and I got to try again. I’m so so glad be because we now have one happy and thriving leaped frog!!!! My kids and I are WONDERSTRUCK My take: Understand what you’re getting into: High maintenance experience - specific water treatment - cleaning weekly - adult supervision required Long term commitment - the tadpoles only transition with very specific conditions so could remain in the water for weeks or even months ours were about 7 weeks old before one transitioned. - during the Froglet stage (transition from tadpole to frog) they NEED a way to get out of the water so you could put something stable like a rock or stick or something for them to crawl on out of the water - be ready within 5 days to feed them new solid food (think - flightless fruit flies, maggots, tiniest crickets imaginable anything smaller than its tiny little frog head will work) (their tail slowly shrinks when they get out of the water and is actually a source of nutrition for them as they are on land (think of the yolk of a chickens egg) Recommendations: - I would do your research on Leopard Frogs to know if you want to be a care giver for one beyond the transformation process because they want survive without you. I had to do some digging to see what type of frog we have… - recommend getting something you can store treated water in to sit with the dechlorination drops so it’s ready on the go (takes 2 hours to treat 1/2 a gallon of water so while in the tadpole stage you’ll go through a lot - I also got a master type water filter you may also want one just make sure the tads can’t get sucked inside the filter! - do NOT overfeed it can contaminate the water and kill the tads as we learned the hard way :( - over all though we LOVED this experience and 💯 would Recommend!

Sad…
The starter kit was great, but the tadpoles arrived dead. I’ve contacted the company to ask for a replacement and no one has responded. I’m saddened by this company and I’m saddened that my students won’t be able to engage with life learning.

READ ENTIRE PAMPHLET BEFORE SETTING UP! GREAT LITTLE STARTER KIT!
Great little kit. It does say in the description of the item that you will receive a certificate to mail out to receive your two tadpoles. It took about 5 days to receive the tadpoles in the mail. Unfortunately I only received one tadpole at first but the seller was very accommodating and got the second tadpole sent out to me immediately the next day. Please be careful. Read all instructions carefully and also note that the water conditioner must be used on a gallon of water and let to sit 2 hours before putting the tadpoles in it. The bottle only reads half gallon so make sure that isn't noted. Also I use a turkey baster to remove any old food or waste from the bottom of the tank and change the water as soon as it starts to look a little cloudy. Most tadpoles die because of poor water quality or temperature. Water must be kept no colder than 65° and no higher than 78.

So cute!!
Update! 9/8/25 First week having my tadpoles, they are doing wonderful! When I received them they were very very small like a crum so I was thinking that they hatched the day they got sent to me. I am very glad they are getting HUGE and growing properly! One tip for the water, I take the dirty water out and replace it with new treated water every other day! Also make sure to spot clean all the food and poop DAILEY (I spot clean in the morning and before I go to bed) !! I bought a turkey baster from the dollar store to suck up all the poop and extra food and it works perfect I 100% recommend if you haven’t tried it. Food wise I do follow the instructions a little but, I break a full piece of food in half and put one half on one side and the other half on the opposite side. When it’s the day of cleaning and replacing the new water I put in a pinch of boiled baby spinach so they can meet all of their food needs. once and a while I also put in a tiny piece of an algae wafer to switch it up. (That’s a lot of food information but make sure to NOT over feed, I only feed in the morning and before bed.) I’ll give more updates as time goes on :) Update 9/22/25: Both tadpoles are still alive and perfectly healthy. Both of them are growing back legs!!! So exciting!! Update 10/2/25: one tadpole has grown front legs today!! Both of the tadpoles are still alive and perfectly healthy. Last Update 10/3/25: super sad today, the first frog that grew front legs died the next day from drowning. 2nd tadpole grew both front legs today and I immediately took the water out and put dirt into the tank so he wouldn’t die like the other one. I learned my lesson :(. When ur tadpoles develop all 4 legs immediately put them in a tank with dirt, they will not need water anymore. I hope all of this information helped!! Learn from my mistake when they grow all legs! I loved this experience!!

Perfect for starter tank
Cute little tadpole starter kit that I bought for my daughter who looooves frogs. She is so excited to use it. Only disappointing thing is that it says online that the tadpoles come with the tank, however when the tank came, there was a paper with a code that said to mail it in to receive the tadpoles and they should arrive within 2 weeks. Had I known that I would have ordered them 2 weeks ago. Other than that it is a cute little starter tank.

Disappointment
I had three kids excited to watch the tadpoles grow into frogs. However, both tadpoles died. A HUGE disappointment. We followed the instructions and everything with the setup and water conditioner. For anyone who decides to try this, I would recommend putting the tadpoles in a regular fish tank that has a filter and/or an air bubbler. I think the tank habitat included is too small and I think they really need a filter. If you use a bigger tank with a filter, they may do better.
