Exactly what I needed
this guitar replaced one that had a bum button and I already had one of these so I knew that they were good guitars I got this for a steal of a deal and it has been working great. no lags, no bum buttons, even used everything was there as if it was not used, and in perfect condition. pros: great guitar especially for the newer GH games and works for all GH games as well Cons: none I can think of I don't like the "break Neck" design but thats a personal thing since thats the reason my old one died cuz one of the contacts on the guitar neck fell off. great for the money and will definitely get another if something happens to the ones I have Cody

Dead On Arrival - Here's how to fix it
With a bit of Google searching, apparently "the Guitar Hero World Tour guitar has notoriously unreliable and failure-prone strumbar switches". Right out of the box, the guitar would register a down strum about 40% of the time. Whether in the game or on the XBox dashboard, it wouldn't receive the down command. I was already into the shipping $15 and the return shipping would probably be similar. So rather than loose about $30 on shipping because there are only returns for non-Amazon sellers and not exchanges, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I don't know if Amazon's reviews allow URL addresses, so just Google "Guitar Hero World Tour Broken Strum Bar Repair Guide" and you will find a walk through on how to fix the strum switches. It requires two $3 Radio Shack switches and a basic knowledge of soldering. You need a small hex #6 and #10 screwdriver as well. It sounds a little daunting at first but I was able to do it in about 30 min. After installing the replacement switches it works like a charm! Hope this help someone out there. Had to give a 1 star though for the PITA factor but extremely satisfying to fix it yourself.

Great controller! Could use some work to be perfect...
I recently got into Guitar Hero again. I hadn't played it on a guitar controller because I didn't own one, so I've been playing the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 2 which lets you use a standard controller to hit notes using the shoulder buttons. So I finally broke down and bought this controller, Guitar Hero: Metallica, Smash Hits, and Warriors of Rock. ...wow! Playing with this guitar is fun, the slide-bar is awesome and now that I have a next-gen system, games like Guitar Hero Metallica and even Rock Band 3 are super impressive with the graphics. Seriously! I'm not one to nag about graphics but the Xbox is beautiful! After about a week of shredding on expert, however, I noticed sometimes the guitar would double-strum. Other times, it strums on it's own, making getting 100 percent notes hit impossible. BUT, I found a way around it: See, there's a nub on the bottom of the controller that you can use to navigate the menus more easily. The Xbox 360 button on it. You just strum this up or down and it functions exactly like a strum bar. Better, actually, but it's really awkward. And on Hard and Expert it's tough to strum and hit the whammy because moving your hand up to the whammy is a chore. Nevertheless, at least you'll be able to get your shred on. An alternate way to strum is to hold notes like normal then tap the touch strip, but this is more trouble than what it's worth. Overall it's a comfortable controller and I think it's really cool. Playing games is really fun with it, and it's super-responsive. Just beware that with these controllers (pretty much all the Guitar Hero or Rock Band controllers), the strum bar will glitch out eventually, but there's always a way around a problem. It just depends on whether or not you want to deal with it or replace it. Four stars!!!

Worked As Expected from an Expert Player
No double strums, no buttons that don't work. No glitches. No bullshit. I bought 3 $400.00 dollar guitars before this, and they all double-strummed. This one was perfect. Plays like a champion guitar for half the price. 100% satisfied as an expert player.

Don't waste your money
"like new" my ass. The guitar cover was damaged and the strum bar only works consistently when strumming up. Also every time you actually strum it it squeaks extremely high pitched and loud so there's no way to really enjoy the game especially with trying to only strum up. Strap was fraying and well used and the whammy bar was loose. I kept better care of the one I got 6 years ago this was just extremely disappointing.

It Worked Well, Until Heavy Use
For the first several months, it worked excellently. However, after heavy use the strum bar has started to wear out. It's not completely worn out yet, but the multiple year old Motley Crue guitar I found at the thrift store works better than this thing. If you don't plan on playing games using this controller very often or playing on higher difficulties, this may last you several years. If you plan on playing the game weekly, on higher difficulties, expect probably about 6 months to a year's worth of life out of this guitar depending on frequency and the exact difficulty.

Broken strum bar makes for an unsatisfied customer.
Came in the mail blissfully quick thanks to amazon prime but once I tried to use it the strum bar did not work strumming down. I do not understand how there is a sticker on the box that states "Tested for full functions R2/Ready for Reuse" and one major part of it doesn't work. I understand maybe one of the buttons having a loose connection and situationally working but the strum bar will not strum down at all and now I have to spend more time shipping it back for a refund and shopping for a new guitar.

It could've been a little cleaner but im just happy that it works! Thank you.

Strum bar only works in up direction, not down. Which I find harder to use. Guitar is far from good condition. Waste of money.

The guitar I got was just as broken as the one I had before it. In all honesty, it is expected because the guitars are no longer made by the manufacturer and are actually in high demand due to wear and tear. I’m not upset about the price, I’m upset about the quality. Almost everyone selling a guitar hero guitar on Amazon is selling a broken piece of junk to suckers (like myself) who are in need of a new FUNCTIONAL guitar.
