I am using these shackles for a non-standard purpose. They are subjected to a heavy load and have held fine. We found that to release the shackle under load that you must pull the release in line with the pin. My only concern is that the release pin is held in place with a simple wire keeper ring. That ring cannot handle a heavy pull to release the pin. Again, I am using the shackle for a non-standard application so the wire ring is probably fine for its intended purpose.

got these for my small dinghy sailboat, and they are the right size and seem to do the job! and they are a fraction of the price that west marine sells them for. 10/10!

Used this to release a guy wire, it was plenty strong and easy to use, but if you pull the pin under load there is friction to overcome on the pin. The puny keyring in the pin is not strong enough to handle the pull. It should be either a solid ring or a more heavy duty ring! If you buy this, modify and strengthen the pull pin!
