After looking over coal hods, a number appearing to have weak or shoddy handle anchors, settled on this one. Very pleased with it - even works well with hot coals. Handles aren't uncomfortably hot - both while carrying it and the second dump out handle on the back.

The first thing I thought when I opened the box was "It's bigger than I expected!". The surprises didn't end there. I picked it up by the handle and I was very impressed with the quality for the price. It's got a nice matt black finish, the handle moves easily, it has a beautiful shape, and a very generous bucket. There is also a nice bottom rim so hot ash in the bucket won't scorch or ignight anything the bucket is sitting on. They even put a nice finger-hold handle on the back of the bucket to make dumping ashes easier. We use ours for our outside fireplace, and it's a gorgeous companion to the Amagabeli fireplace log rack with 4 tools that I also bought on Amazon and love! When it's finished for the outside fire season I think I'll bring it inside, clean it up and decorate it for the holidays. It's such a nice piece I would have no problem using it for decorative use, and it would be an attractive unit for your inside fireplace as well. The only drawback is it doesn't come with a matching "coal" shovel, but the nice shovel and hearth brush that came with the log holder will work perfectly. There are also several available on Amazon so if you don't already have a brush and shovel you can get one easily. I am really impressed with this large ash bucket and I would not hesitate to buy it again and I recommend highly.

We just had a pellet stove installed. This bucket is great for holding the pellets. We put 1/2 of the pellets in the stove and the rest fit in the bucket. It makes filling the stove so easy with the handle. And it looks so nice.

It is fine except that bristles fall out of the brush.

Ash or coal bucket is very strong. I carry small wood in it bringing in to house. I would highly recommend this.

GREAT TOOL FOR KEEPING BIG FIREPLACES CLEAN

This bucket is light weight but durable and well made. It is easy to handle, holds a lot of ashes, and is a nice looking addition to the fire place landing. The shape is perfect for filling and emptying. It is deep enough so that when adding ashes, the fine particles don't puff out onto the floor. Very happy with this product.

Considering the huge price tag (AUD$350) I was expecting sturdier construction. I’ve since found it for about 1/3 the price on other sites. Lesson learned.
