Well made performs as well as the pampered chef one that I have

I tried the Gorilla Grip version of these scoops after several failures of the other popular brand in different sizes. These seem to be made better — the soft grip handles are connected better so are less likely to detach, the ‘pins’ at both ends are longer so should not fail like the others, and the ‘gears’ seem more stable (have yet to shift out of place.

I'll preface this with I blame myself for the failure. The scoop works perfectly for room temp cookie dough, and seems to be built better than the competition. Unfortunately, I pushed it too hard in some refrigerated dough (I'm a large man). The pinion gear broke loose from the shaft. I do believe the gear retention should be better, but it's right on par with what seems to be the industry standard. I will attempt to weld the gear to the shaft, but if that doesn't work, I'll probably still buy the same scoop again.

Love this cookie scoop! I've been using it to make my sandwich cookies with. Will definitely be ordering the other sizes soon.
