The 1/4 inch butyl cord I received was good quality and appeared fresh. It was a round cross-section "cord", and not a flat tape. The butyl cord was very flexible and sticky, but not so sticky that it would not let go of your fingers. I applied it at about 70F degrees and kept it out of direct sun so it would not get too soft. I used the cord to seal around the base of some outdoor wall lights that did not fit snuggly to the wall. It worked great. I could push and pull the butyl cord into shape to fit the crack between the light base and the wall. Should provide a good seal from weather.

Ya know, for a $10 item, this sure worked like a $30 product! I used it on my 2 rear doors for 2008 Honda Fit Sport where the prior Butyl tape had worn down and was allowing water into the vehicle. Took me 2 hours per door for the whole process, but was well worth it. This worked like a charm -- was easy to apply, is lasting quite well, and holds true to its purpose.

Adheres well, provides a good watertight seal. Easy to install, and can be cut to be thinner for smaller seals.

This "rope" is a bit narrower than the 3M product. I wasnt doing a windshield seal, just door panel seals. So, narrower is just as effective, but with less bulk and mess.

Fantastic stuff! I used this to seal around speaker frames. It is very tacky but molds very easily. I had on nitrile gloves and had no issues with it sticking to my gloves. It made a really good seal. It will thin out quickly if you pull against a part that is stuck down already. I found the best method was to lay it out where I wanted it then kinda smashed it in the gap and worked it around the frame. It is tacky enough it stayed put while I worked it in place. Would highly recommend

For some reason, the windshield weatherstripping on my wife's car started working out. The only way I knew to fix it was to use butyl. So I purchased this for a decent price and now the weatherstripping is staying in place. Lots of good uses for it, and it's size is small so you can use it in different applications to seal any areas that may leak or need sealed up.
