Hi, it could work bi-directionally. If it's use to select one signal out of multiple inputs to the output, please ensure break before engage to avoid signal interefence.

Q: Could I connect one guitar in the input and one output going to an usb sound interface and another output to an amplifier?

Although to some extent it might work to a point, It’s not design for that kind of use. First, it is a passive stereo signal path designed for line level signals and and your guitar is mono, low level signal. Second it is a switch circuit designed more for routing than mixing and matching different source levels and impedences. What you actually need is a DI box. If cheap is what you’re after try the behringer DI20 also sold on Amazon. Youtube is full of videos on how to use this little DI box.

Q: This product says the connector jack is 3.5mm but all my 3.5mm cables are small for the entry port. Am I missing something here please?

This audio splitter has 6.35mm jack sockets. If you are using 3.5mm jack connectors you need 3.5mm to 6.35mm addaptors.
