WONDERFUL Item!!
I have a mastador, a bassett cross and a pomeranian. The mastador has been chewing up everything including chewing my garden berry bushes to the ground. I have a fenced yard and didn't want to put in an electric fence. Plus each area was distinctly seperate from the other. I purchased this item, set the rock out and within two investigations of the rock the Mastador won't go anywhere near it. The boundry size from the rock itself is small. Don't think you will get 12 feet out of it. Think of 12 foot radius so at the most you will get six feet from the rock itself. I expanded my zones by adding the wire option on and that makes a HUGE difference (ebay the wire is around 24.00 for 500 feet, shipping included) both in the effectiveness of the signal and the size of the area you can cover. I would not buy this item without the wire unless you have a very small area to protect. My bassett cross is much more resitant to the shock effect. He will walk into the signal zone and you will hear his collar beeping at him and see his eyes blinking as he stands there. I took the time a few times to tell him "Ace get out" and when he walked out of the zone and quit getting shocked then I petted him and told him he was a good dog. Now he is starting to pay attention to the beep instead of just standing there until it ramps up to the shock level. The collar for the pom is still coming. If I don't have good results there I will let you know but so far I am completely pleased with the results of using this product. In conjuntion with other boundries (like fences and planters) it works especially well. One other thing that I am doing is getting some white flags (I bought the ones in the construction department for 16.00/100 instead of the ones in the pet department 20.00/25). I am going to flag the boundaries temporarily and slowly remove the flags to help out the slower dog and to give them a visual barrier to establish where they are going to trigger the collar.

A total wast of precious money
This is an overly price item with very minor effect. I actually have two of this item which I place on my deck for a 10lbs poodle that I have to stop him from coming to defecate on or around my deck. first of all, the company charges way too much money for an over-sized item that does not do what they say it will do. The battery in the collar have to be changed quite often, and even when there is a fresh pair of battery (since you have to put 2 of those cell battery which are so expensive to begin with and in the long rung will cost you quite a fortune) the sound of the so call alarm is still very faint. Now after the sound, there is a shock supposedly to deterred the dog from its path, which is also very faint. Remember I mention to have 2 of this junk, which I place 4 feet away from each other at full bars that they can be set under and that small poodle is able to #1 stand very close to them about 1foot off without being affected by anything and 2nd if he walks fast enough when following my son, he is able to bypassed them and end up right on top of my deck. And to make matters worst, when changing the batteries in the collar, the tiny prongs that is supposed to hold the cover in place is so thin, flimsy and short that it is always breaking off to the point the company had to replace it twice for me. Waste of precious money and time because this stuff does not work and I hope that the company does read those reviews in order to either fix or reinvent this product by going back to the drawing board.

Works fantastically for my stubborn dog who was already trained on an electric fence system
I don't know how well it would have worked if my dog hadn't already been trained that a high beep means you're about to get shocked and you should back away, just back away. But for my extremely stubborn Great Dane, this rock has been a godsend. We already had the YardMax system to surround about 3 acres of "yard," and it works perfectly on the setting where it continues to shock her no matter what distance the dog goes beyond the boundary (up to 15 seconds). She has learned that when she hears the beep, she's come too close to the boundary, and she just turns around. However, she couldn't keep herself out of the chicken run, because the compost pile is inside. I keep the chicken door open in good weather so they can free range outside their run, and my Great Dane could make herself really tiny and squeeze through the hole (about 18" x 24")! That was one determined dog, especially when I put something delicious on the compost pile! Enter the "rock." I set it for a range of about a 6' radius, and placed the rock right by the door to the chicken run. The next time she came towards the door, nose in the air, hoping to go in and snarf some goodies, she heard the beep beep beep of the collar (same collar works with both systems, so it's the same beep!), and she stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. Now she gives the chicken door a wide berth and just jealously watches the chickens dig through the compost pile. Don't worry, she gets lots of treats of her own! I've had this rock for over a month, and haven't had a battery issue so far. Still on the original batteries I installed (and I bought more in bulk from Amazon). Now I'm going to buy another one and attach wire to it to keep the dog out of the new pond my husband just dug by our front door. I want the field to go around the pond but not keep her away from the door, so I'll loop in the pond and put the setting at the lowest so there won't be very much area around the pond that she'll be kept out of. Couldn't be happier with this rock, for my purposes with my dog.

There are rodents living in our neighbor's garden. Our cockatoo would spend hours digging away at the back corner of our garden, trying to get under the fence to get at them. She’s a small dog (25lb), but she would dig a massive hole, dirt flying everywhere. Muddy dog running around the deck. We tried everything - chicken wire wrapped around rocks buried in the corner (she digs under it), large rocks on top, a new cedar planter in the corner - she tunnels under everything. Finally, in desperation we bought this product. It works! We set the range to 4 (about 5 ft), placed the fake rock in the corner, and adjusted the collar. The first time she went to dig, there was some confusion, a bit of backing off, cautious circling of the area. She ventured into her favourite dig zone, but quickly backed off. This was the pattern for a few days, but then she just gave up on the corner. She still chases squirrels (and she caught a rat the other day), but she avoids the digging corner - even without the collar on.

Mi patio tiene un espacio donde cada vez que dejaba salir a mi perrito el se metia y se salía hacia el monte. Después de instalar el perrito trató unas 4 veces de salir y se retraía. Y ya nunca se volvió a acercar al área.

It has been constant battle to keep my pyrenees and munsterlander off the pond that they think is their personal spa… now they high tail away from it! So peaceful. I may use more to keep off my pool cover in winter which my pyrenees thinks is her trampoline! Wish these rocks had larger area. Wish you could get overlayed fake rock with it to decrease costs- got to cover it to ensure protected from winter. We will see duration over winter. Wire extension not practical if cant dig bc concrete patio area. Had to get two devices to cover 20ft circumference pond
