I was very happy with the quality of this one. It looks great on the shelf and seems to be well made. I also had a copy of the Hobbit Deluxe and returned it because the gold lettering was literally falling off and the leather was tacky. Not so with this one.

This is a beautiful book that came packaged in an awesome box covered in a map of middle earth... that box was inside of an Amazon box, so it came in perfect condition. The leather could be of higher quality, and the pages were on the thinner side (probably out of necessity,) and i wish there was a pouch for the loose maps and cards. Other than that i think it's a beautiful edition for collectors as my copy came in pristine condition with uniform page colors, flawless guilding, and no printing errors or ink marks. I got it on prime day for $90, and i am extremely happy for that price. I wouldn't pay the list price of $250, but anything around $125 or under is a great purchase.

For Tolkien fans, this is a beautiful edition of his most popular and enduring work in a gorgeous and thoughtful package. Yes, the book is smaller than you might be expecting but it also oozes love for the creator from every stitch. The book's binding, the hard leather sleeve, the included extras, and the introduction of all Tolkien's original artwork made me feel like i am looking through a museum piece. I seriously think this is well put together enough to be an heirloom for my children. I previously owned the LotR edition that was illustrated by John Howe and Alan Lee. It was a truly beautiful book but i even prefer this to that. For one thing, the binding is much better here and i feel like this version will last through many readings without any wear and tear. It is also smaller, making it easier to take with you on planes and such. There is something special here though, in my opinion, almost ethereal (and, yes, i realize how pretentious that sounds). With the addition of the Professor's art throughout, i almost feel like i am in his study with him as he creates this masterpiece. Reading his words exactly as his imagination intended readers to experience his Middle Earth. There is no doubt that the book is an investment, but this edition is a work of art in more than one way. You can tell this was made with love by people who love and respect JRR Tolkien. For the fans, indeed.

What a beauty! This is such a well made book for the money, and the extras are amazing as well. Packaging is perfect for helping keep it nice and clean overtime as well. I have been waiting a while for the price to come down on this particular LOTR book, and I am glad I purchased it. More than pleased with this one!

This book is amazing! This is my first time reading the books. I know a lot of folks don’t read their copy but I am reading mine and I don’t see any printing defects. The paper feels high quality. A lot of books with gold gilding on the page edges tend to stick but the pages in my copy didn’t stick. The illustrations by the author are a nice touch. Two loose maps came with the book. I see that adding them to the book would have made this already large book even bigger. I don’t mind that they’re loose. The black fabric on the cover and back and the red leather spine feels extra premium. The box sleeve is very sturdy and the eye of Sauron aligned with the cutout perfectly.

Livre reçu très abimé ! (voir photos). Non seulement c'est un livre cher, mais en plus il a fallu régler 45€ de frais de douane !! (pour un livre... c'est scandaleux !). Et bien sûr on n'est pas prévenus au moment de l'achat. Bref, une arnaque !

Wydanie bardzo ładne, niestety wykonane słabo. Podobny poziom byłby z grubsza akceptowalny w przypadku książek za 50 zł, ale nie za 1000. Wystąpiłem do sprzedawcy o wymianę, zobaczymy jak będzie prezentował się nowy egzemplarz.

Uma pena ser tão caro, mas indico pra qualquer um que seja muito fã de O Senhor dos Anéis. Vale muito a pena ter essa obra tão linda na sua coleção.

Ich habe lange gesucht und je mehr gesucht wird, umso mehr findet man über die unterschiedlichen Ausgaben heraus. Ich persönlich würde mich schon als großer Fan von Tolkiens Welt beschreiben und wollte aus diesem Grund auch eine Ganz besondere Ausgabe seines wohl bekanntesten Werkes im Regal haben. Ich habe lange Berichte über die Vorzüge und Defizite der unterschiedlichen Übersetzungen gelesen und dabei ist mir klar geworden, dass es der Originaltext werden muss. Als diese Entscheidung gefallen war, habe ich auf diversen Wegen versucht herauszufinden, welche Fassungen auch die Anhänge beinhalten. Ich war überrascht, dass lange nicht alle Ausgaben über die Anhänge verfügten. Auch war ich mir lange Zeit nicht darüber im Klaren in welcher Ausführung - (Illustrationen etc) Aber Als ich diese Ausgabe gesehen hatte, waren die Zweifel relativ schnell ausradiert. Originaltext, Zusätzliche Gimmicks und Karten - und dann auch noch mit den Illustrationen aus Tolkiens eigener Hand. Was will man als Fan mehr? Es gab nur ein Problem: Beinhaltet diese Prachtausgabe die anhänge zum Herrn der Ringe- Eine Eindeutige Antwort war nicht zu finden - also habe ich diverse Buchhändler befrag und sogar Fan-Seiten via Instagram angeschrieben, welche das Buch in einem Kurzen Reel vorgestellt hatten. Aber: Suprise... Keine Antwort. Irgendwann hatte ich genug und habe es auf Gut Glück mit dem Hintergedanken bestellt, dass ich es Ohne Anhänge wieder zurück schicken würde... Kurz um an jeden, der auch nach dieser doch Recht Essentiellen Information Sucht: Sämtliche Appendices (Anhänge) sind in diesem Prachtband enthalten.

Pricey but very much worth it, will make a fabulous addition to my Tolkien library
