Bellroy Melbourne Backpack – (Laptop Bag, Laptop Backpack, 18L)

I love this bag, everything is well thought out. I wanted it to carry every day things, including a tablet, but without having something big enough to fit a huge laptop. Quick access to the interior is as quick as it could be, with just 2 magnets meaning the top just lifts up. I've had bags with various buckles and hooks and none are as good as this. If you need deeper access, the zipped front is really useful. The internal pockets are very well thought out, and nice materials. My favourite feature is the bottle pocket, which is deep enough to avoid the bottle falling out, a pet hate of mine on other bags when swinging my bag over my shoulder or picking it up by the strap not perfectly upright. The fabric is a bit stiffer than I expect, but actually that helps it stay looking smart and holding its shape, and I've grown used to it and actually appreciate it now. It's my favourite "every day" bag. As a guy, we don't get handbags, but this is the next best thing.

Well.made backpack with excellent protection for laptop. Very nice lined inner giving a premium finish. Straps are robust but quite slim. The metal magnetic closure for the main compartment cover are novel and quick.to use. However not secure for travelling. I purchased this backpack to replace a much bulkier one. Its completely meeting my needs. It was however very expensive compared to similar offerings but design is different enough to justify to my mind.

The bag itself is fantastic quality - you really can’t go wrong with Bellroy on that front, I own multiple products of theirs and I’ve always been more than impressed. Unfortunately, I was buying this as a gift and the Lunar colour in person was far darker than the photos illustrated to I had to return it as it’s too masculine. Really disappointing as the bay would otherwise be perfect.

Was afraid the magnets would open after reading about it, but has not happened to me so far. Very happy with purchase. Stylish bag that carries quite a lot for a light carry: i’ve put in laptop, waterbottle and gym clothes (no shoes) and tech pouch.

I really wanted to keep this bag, I loved the way you could zip it fully open and the organisation and space were both fabulous, but the magnetic closure - as so many have said - would not stay shut. Such a shame, as it's otherwise great. I love Bellroy stuff but this was flawed.

I am surprised to see this still being sold, since the product itself is defective. I bought one of these a few months ago (the large size), it arrived just in time for a trip. Lucky me. I packed some shoes, a shirt, laptop and notepad and it was unusable, the top kept popping open as it’s just magnets holding it down. Kept emptying more and more things until it was a laptop and a toothbrush and still popping open, even when simply putting the bag on my back. Ended up having to quickly dump my neatly prepared stuff into another bag to make a train... not happy. Shame on bellroy for continuing to push a clearly defective product

Bought the bag and returned it. Really nice quality back, and looks great. However, with the bag not completely full every time I put the bag over my shoulder the magnetic flap comes undone, which makes the back redundant. Looks over practicality with this bag unfortunately.

Very tough due to its simplicity and high quality materials. No noise opening and closing with magnets!! Very nice! Fits a laptop, 2 notebooks, a 3 ring binder, calculator, reading glasses and writing tools. Doesn't have 20 pockets, looks slim and unique and is easy to use. Inner zipper stays closed enough, I read a review complaining about the zipper opening on its own. If you go for a jog with this backpack your stuff is going get destroyed before it falls out, because it's paper, not an issue with the backpack. Excellent backpack for a college student, not excellent for a high schooler, as it is a refined and quality item!!

Looks nice and sturdy

Apparently this is the most perfect backpack that has ever been created. Well that’s the verdict my wife gives it.

If you pack this full or even 80% the top will not stay closed. Ended up selling on eBay after 6 months because that was so annoying.

Purchased for my wife as a birthday gift. She is a CPA and meets with clients a lot. We were replacing a traditional laptop backpack with this bag. It is stylish but also has plenty of room for her 15" laptop and other items she always has with her. The magnet closure is strong, and the side zipper is functional.
