Great value toy for the price
I bought this set for my grandson (2½) to play with when he visits and we can't play in the garden. I read the reviews on the many different sets now available and noted the comments about battery usage and flimsiness of some of the components. But when this set came up on a limited time deal I decided to give it a go. I have to say I have been very pleased with the set. It's quick and easy to fit the track together and it doesn't matter too much whether or not you can create the exact track layout shown on the box. The track is very flexible and is easy to adjust if a corner is to tight and the car comes off. Anyway I set it all up and my grandson loves it. The cars work really well and chunter round the track at a good speed (don't bother with the supplied batteries, just insert a good quality AA alkaline battery into each car). It's fun watching them go round and the two sets of 'points' make it interesting because the cars are always changing direction. However, my grandson isn't content just to watch; he wants to intervene. He enjoyed switching the points himself to make the cars change direction, and if that makes them crash so much the better. He enjoys changing the shape of the track layout to see what happens, and if that means the car leaves the track and disappears under the furniture that's great. I think the cars are really well designed - the motors are strong and, with good batteries, they go quite fast. That means my grandson likes to play with them off the track, and we had a great time just sending them to each other across a table and back. Sometimes we caught them and sometimes we didn't. This car set has been subjected to some fairly rigorous play - using the cars in ways not intended and the track being kicked about when he got bored. So far the cars have survived and still work and all the track components are still in working order. I'm sure something will break eventually, but it hasn't yet. In terms of all the 'pieces' in the set, the car and the track are the most important and are well-made. The numerous signs and trees etc are of no interest to my grandson and they stay in the box. He does, however, love the little friction powered construction lorries and plays with those, even when he isn't playing with the track set. Finally, on the issue of battery consumption I have found that each car uses about 1 good quality AA battery a day - this includes playing with the cars away from the track and leaving the cars on their backs with the motors running (it's what kids do). I don't think this is too outrageous. All-in-all I think this set is great value. It has kept my grandson occupied for long periods of time and it has stood up to use and misuse. For the price, I think it has been great value.

Great track
This track is a bit fiddly to start but once you get the hang of fixing the track it’s easy to use. Our g'dau has loved playing with it, the cars use approx 1 battery per days play. We have mixed it with a Thomas the tank train set using the bridge which gives endless opportunities. BUT If you want to buy extra track be super careful. The track we bought looked perfect but they don’t work together at all. We have passed it onto our son so they have one too. I’ve found about 10 different company names looking through today

A wonderful low cost toy
Both of my very small grandsons love this toy! I thought that because it is quite cheap in price that it wouldn’t last long but after several months of use, it is still going strong. The cars do go through batteries quite fast but apart from that I would say that it is an excellent choice for a few hours of fun. Adults rather like it too p

Learn Construction Vehicle Names from This Set
It is a great set and very reasonably priced for all you get. Little children learn to recognize different kinds of construction equipment by using the toy models in this set. It does use batteries quickly, so alkaline ones, which last about 10 times longer than cheaper old-style batteries, should be used. Children should be taught to keep the battery-powered cars away from their heads. My son (age3) got his hair caught in a vehicle and the hair had to be cut to free the vehicle. No injury though and no damage to the vehicle.
