Playback screen is small and low resolution, but it takes decent photos and movies
This is an unobtrusive and inexpensive trail camera. The interface controls are logical and non-surprising. It takes decent pictures and video, even at night. The main limitations are these: the preview screen on the unit is very small and not much in the way of resolution - you might be able to recognize a deer, but small animals like raccoons and rabbits will be indistinguishable from brush when viewed on device, especially in daylight. True story: I put one of these up to catch a bobcat on camera in a place where I knew the bobcats frequented. Came back a week later, could not see a bobcat with the preview screen on any of the ten photos that were taken. Thought it was junk, UNTIL I popped the SD card into the laptop, and then saw that there was a well-camouflaged bobcat in every photo! The other limitations are that the colors captured by the camera are not especially vivid, and the battery life is limited compared to other, larger cameras that accept 8 AA batteries (this one takes 4 batteries). Still, a good value if you can get it for $35 or $40 - the price of these goes up and down.

This is a great camera
I got this camera this summer after a more expensive camera died. It turned out to be well worth the purchase and took great photos and videos both at night as well as during the day. Which is why I was so unhappy when it stopped working. I contacted the company to find out if there was a simple fix and worked with a representative named Ann that gave me a couple suggestions to try. When those didn't work she arranged for a replacement camera to be sent to me. That honestly surprised me. I had contacted the company for the more expensive camera when that one died after only a couple months and never heard back from them. To discover what a reputable company Hapimp is was a really nice surprise. It isn't the most expensive camera or the fanciest but it takes good pictures as well as video. I haven't had a problem with it draining the batteries but you do need to get a Micro SD card. That's the one that works with it. I'm really impressed with the company and the camera.

Decent performance for the price
I personally run several trail cameras in multiple locations prior to deer season. Most of the cameras I use have higher specifications than this HAPIMP, but I decided to give it a try. For the $37 I spent, I would have to say this is a good 1080P resolution trail camera purchase. The small size makes it blend easily with the natural surroundings. The color saturation is not the greatest during daylight hours, but it's definitely not the worst I've seen, even in more expensive cameras. The night vision detection range seems to work well if the subjects are close, but it misses a lot outside 10 or so yards. I left the HAPIMP in the woods for 2 weeks and it withstood a couple of rain showers with no problems. All things considered, I don't think you would go wrong with this trail camera. The biggest drawback is battery life. So if you plan to put it somewhere remote, it would not be a good option to use without some form of battery backup, i.e., solar or backup battery pack.

Great bang for your buck!!
I purchased this product to catch someone dumping trash on my property. I had no problems setting this puppy up, I would recommend an SD card of 128gb or more. Works great at night and during the day. I would recommend that this is fastened to something sturdy, I put it on a flimsy tree branch at first and the movement from the wind kept making it turn on. It's small, it's easy to use, it's easy to hide! I would recommend this product to anyone looking to purchase a reliable and good quality trail cam!

Works great (when it actually works)
I bought this little camera in the hopes of catching whatever it was that's been digging in my garden beds. The first night i got beautiful crisp video of a gray fox. The pros: really nice clear video. Night camera is beautiful. It records sound with the video. It's well made and has stood up to the weather including a light rain and Arizona heat. The negatives are that this will use 4 AA batteries PER DAY if you're using any of the video options and running off of battery power. It will not record anything at all if the batteries are even slightly low. An external battery/power source costs as much as this camera, so it doubles the price, but it's necessary if you want to use it consistently. You will also need to buy a micro SD card because it doesn't have on board storage.

Great Customer Service and Camera
I received the camera, and could not get it to read the micro SD card. I emailed customer service and got a very prompt reply. The brand of micro SD card I got (because Amazon had it just below the camera as a suggested addition) was not compatible. I now have a SanDisk micro card in and the camera is working. The customer service person followed up with me, and has offered a $10 refund to cover the cost of the SanDisk card. I have only tried the camera out in the house so far, and it's very good. Tomorrow it goes out on the trail, and I will have a follow up review. Follow-up: Now that I have used the camera for over a month, I am totally happy with it. It is easy to use, does not drain the batteries (I used the same batteries for many weeks, and they were still good). The photos are clear, and captured deer, coyotes, people and their dogs....all the things I was hoping to see. This camera is an excellent choice for a very reasonable price.

Good imagery but a GIGANTIC DISAPPOINTMENT
I originally bought three of these units, thinking they were at a good price, small in size, and seemed like a good unit, but I returned two (unopened) within a few days of using one of them. The third one - I didn't keep it either. The trail camera I tried out was a giant disappointment and almost what I'd consider a "rip-off". Yes, the IR system does do a really nice job, and I was very happy with the pictures it took in the darkness - when it took any. The camera clearly captured the images of creatures around my home, BUT.... this unit almost instantly sucks the power out of the 4 batteries it requires! (I even bought the 'Best' battery sold through Amazon to go with this unit, and the IR system still quit working within four days due to not enough power in batteries.) True, it has the capabilities to run off an AC adapter, but <1> there is no adapter included <2> who in their right mind wants to have wires all over their property, just to power trail cams? Rarely have I been so overwhelmingly disappointed in the performance of an item purchased. What was good though, was that Amazon handled my dis-satisfaction very quickly, easily, and efficiently. I need you to think about one thing before you decide if you want to buy this trail cam or not: What good is great camera optics if the batteries are drained within two or three days and the unit shuts off? Even though it is small, takes good pictures, and is easy to hide, I will NEVER suggest purchasing this item due to the extreme rate of power depletion from the battery supply. I went through 12 batteries (three complete changes) in less than 10 days!
