Excellent bow for LARPing and boffer arrows
Excellent bow for LARPing. Lightweight and looks appropriate (wood and leather, not plastic). More difficult to learn to use than a bow with an arrow rest, but makes up for it in flexibility (left/right hand, shooting style). Quality is good for the price. I get reliable accuracy with foam arrows at 20-30'. My first order for a 40# bow was much stronger than 40. Return thru amazon was easy. My second order seems about right, possibly a bit heavy. If you have restrictions on weight, order 5# lighter than the max allowed. Do not get a different string to change the draw weight. I did have a piece of wood chip off the string notch- just fixed it with wood glue. I have shot several hundred arrows so far with this bow.

Powerful, Compact, and Authentic – A Great Entry into Traditional Archery
The bow is beautifully crafted with a traditional horse bow profile. The finish is smooth and the limbs feel sturdy without being bulky. At 53 inches, it’s compact enough for mounted archery or tight shooting spaces, yet still delivers plenty of draw length for comfortable shooting. Performance: At 45lbs draw weight, this bow packs a punch — it’s not a toy. The release feels crisp, with very little hand shock, and the arrows fly fast and straight. Once tuned, it’s capable of both precision target work and practical hunting ranges. Ease of Use: For beginners or those moving from modern recurves to traditional styles, the learning curve is reasonable. The grip is minimalist, so you’ll quickly develop proper form. It’s also light enough to handle extended practice sessions without fatigue. Use Cases: Perfect for anyone curious about traditional archery, mounted shooting, or simply wanting a bow with historical character. While it’s beginner-friendly, the power means you should respect it and use proper arrows rated for its draw weight. Pros: Authentic Turkish design and feel Smooth draw and fast arrow speed Compact size great for mounted or ground shooting Solid build quality Cons: No arrow rest (as expected for traditional style) — requires instinctive shooting or a simple rest addition String upgrade may improve performance further Verdict: If you’re looking for a well-built traditional horse bow that combines history, performance, and versatility, the AF Archery Turkish Recurve is a fantastic choice. It’s suitable for beginners with commitment, as well as experienced archers seeking a compact powerhouse. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

Great Value Bow but with a Noticeable Difference in Performance
This bow is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a quality, affordable bow. At 53 inches, it’s perfect for mounted archery or precision shooting, and it offers great durability and reliability. For the price, it delivers fantastic value—it's a solid, well-built bow that’s perfect for beginners or those seeking a reliable, budget-friendly option. While you can definitely feel the difference in performance compared to a higher-end laminated bow, it’s still a great product. The fiberglass construction is sturdy, but it doesn’t offer the same smoothness and power that you get from more expensive laminated models, which tend to provide better flexibility and a more consistent shooting experience. That said, the value this bow provides is outstanding, especially for those who are just starting out or don’t need the high-end performance of a laminated bow. Even though it’s not quite on par with pricier bows, it’s still a solid performer and deserves a 5-star rating for what it offers at its price point. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an affordable and reliable recurve bow!

DANGEROUS! DO NOT BUY THIS!
I am an experienced archer. I bought this for my fiancé so that she could learn how to shoot on something she would think was attractive and interesting. After about the 20th shot, never once being dry fired and being properly strung only before use, both notch holes on either siyah broke. This was only shot by a 4' tall child and a 5'5" woman so there was *zero* chance of overdraw. This caused the string to whip by my fiancé's face so fast that it sounded like a bullet ricochet from a cheesy Western film. We are lucky that no one was hurt. This certainly could have resulted in a split face. This product is of so poor quality that it is dangerous to the user and bystanders and should be removed from Amazon for the safety of the public.

Looks great but looks can be deceiving.
It was a good platform to start with and with a little bit of tweaking in a rebuild, it has turned out to be a good shooting bow that I think will last a long time with regular use.

Powerful, but heavy and poor cosmetic build quality
It is pretty powerful and true to draw weight with a seemingly endless and smooth draw, but the cosmetic build quality was not good. The twine decoration started to unwind off before I even used the bow so I returned it. Can’t comment about long term build quality. It is heavy and big if you are used to short horse bows. Overall, not bad for price and would be good for starter. Advice: don’t get a high weight if you are a beginner archer or new to traditional bows. Start with 20-35lbs at max.

It's ideal for cosplayers.
This bow was purchased for my husband's elven cosplay. I didn't plan to use it as a real one (for safety reasons, I chose the lowest draw weight and went to the trouble of getting children's arrows with rubber tips). Believe me, finding an elven bow was a difficult task; they all looked very childlike and didn't resemble elves at all. But I never expected it to be actually real. Well, I've found a new sport to sign up for. I used the minimum tension, which is enough for my weak arms. After all, I'm a complete beginner. A note to cosplayers: yes, it's expensive. But I highly recommend it. It's really cool! If you're not a Tolkien fan and have never held a bow before, you'll very quickly become one.

Very Impressed
I'm very pleasantly surprised how good this bow is for the money. I'd consider myself and intermediate archery shooter, have been hunting with compound and crossbow my whole life and have been dabbling in traditional archery for about 10 years, my main stick bow is a 45# Bear Grizzly but I've got several others that I've acquired at garage sales and flea markets some are great some suck. I bought this bow because it was cheap and I wanted something with a medieval type cool factor. Right out of the box I was able to get accurate groupings very quickly. I was also impressed how quiet it shot. With a little tuning this bow can be a gem.
