I don't have the iPad 9 gen but the bag is about 8 inches tall and around 10 inches wide. The iPad 9 gen is 9.8 inches tall and 6.8 inches wide. You may be able to fit it on its side but it might be a little snug. I would recommened searching for a larger one.
