I’ve installed the DataComm Electronics Recessed Pro-Power Kit a few times now, and I really like it. The quality is solid, the layout is smart, and it gives any wall-mounted TV a clean, professional finish. The recessed design hides everything neatly, and the included Romex and straight blade inlet make the wiring straightforward. Installation is definitely DIY-friendly—clear instructions, good fit, and the kit sits flush for a clean look. Every time I’ve used it, the results come out great. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to clean up cables behind a mounted TV.

This kit is perfect. Before I mounted my TV, my daughter who is 21 months old loved getting as close to the tv as possible and even touching it to point out what was on it and it just irked me. I didn't like telling her no or punishing her for it, so I knew something had to be done. Thus, my project began. So when I decided to mount my TV, I knew I didn't want to pay an electrician to move my AC outlet, because I knew these extensions existed and didn't break building code (in Layman's terms, it won't void your homeowner's insurance whereas running a power cord from your TV behind your wall to your outlet will). This thing was a breeze to install, directions were very simple and detailed. I was able to run 4 cords behind my wall through the holes of the wall plate. Although the HDMI cables were a little difficult to get through the hold on bottom half, they fit. Once I got my Television mounted and everything was plugged in, I pushed the power button on my TV and it turned on, but there was nothing on the screen. There was still a back light, but no menus were coming up on the screen, no volume indicator, no input selection, just a black screen. Doing a little bit of research it seems the power inverter on my television is out now. I'm not too worried as my TV is under warranty and since I cannot prove whether it was this kit that caused the problem, I will still give it 5 stars as I wait for the parts to come in and the technician to come out in order to repair the television. If I have any problems after the TV is repaired, I'll change my review appropriately. Until then, this seems to be a solid product. ______________________________________________________________________________ Update 03/09/2015 Due to parts being back ordered, I ended up getting my TV replaced. I put it on the wall, plugged it in, and it works like a champ leading me to believe that this product was not the cause of the first TV's issue. This in wall extension does the job and looks sleek.

I've had this kit sitting next to the TV for a week and finally decided to get going and get the TV set mounted today before the wife got home. She was tickled when she saw the nice results. Like the other reviewers I found the kit easy to install and the internet video provided a great walk-through. I would however offer the following tips: 1. Before you begin you should test all cables that will be going behind the wall and ensure that they working perfectly. Don't wait till the end and hope everything works out. You should also carefully measure for the needed lengths of the cables that will be hidden. It's frustrating to almost get to the finish line only to realize that your HDMI cable is 2' short. Add a foot or two to your measurements; you can always tuck any excess into the wall. 2. The kit supplied power connector (the upper one that your TV's power cord plugs into) is rather stiff. I found it useful to plug and unplug the TV's power cord into it six or seven times before mounting it, and that payed off with a smoother connection at the end of the installation. 3. A pair of needle-nose pliers is very useful for bending wire ends into "hooks" for the screw-down connections to the upper power connector, as the supplied electrical wire is very rigid. 4. The product installation video shows the "Wings" of the electrical boxes and plates as being secured with a turn or two of the supplied screws. This gave me the impression that the screws for the wings just needed a couple of turns and then the wings would then pop into position and lock the box or plate into place. My experience was that the screws have to be continuously tightened until the wings at last are snug against the drywall and the plate or box is locked into place. This might be a no-brainer to some but I thought I'd point it out for the rest of us. 5. Take your time and measure and mark the locations of your cut-outs carefully so that both plates line up neatly. You get bonus points if you use a small bubble level when tracing your cut-outs so that both are nice and plumb. I mean, why not do the job right? Yep, you are doing this job yourself to save money, but don't let anyone looking at your work think, "Hmm...a pro would STILL have done a much nicer job!" 6. If this is your first time mounting a TV on a wall you might be tempted to try and finish the job by hefting the TV into place by yourself (if working alone). Unless your TV is very small this is a mistake. Mounting this 40" TV by myself was a real pain and a bit foolish. Bonus Tool: An oscillating multi-tool makes beautiful clean cuts in drywall like a hot knife through butter. They can be had for as little as $40.00 bucks these days. Amazon sells them at a good price. Not necessary, but quite useful for a number of household projects. I love mine and it made this job all the easier. When you are all finished, have a sip of your favorite drink and pat yourself on the back for the hundreds of dollars in TV installation and electrician costs that you just saved!

very easy to hide tv wires on wall mount tv application, unique product , no drywall repair required , best for interior wall with no cross braces, use a stud finder to determine before ordering , so you will be aware of any obstacles that may require extra work (cut drywall) , watch U-tube for simple instruction

Really enjoyed installing this. The fit was simple enough and the plug on the bottom was a real time saver. I've cut open walls in previous homes before to run wires for wall mounted TV's but this was even easier! Such a cool product and well designed -- though I did use my own, larger gauge, higher quality wire to use behind the wall. Now all my wires are hidden and it only took a few minutes to install (after cutting the holes).

So, why I am only giving this product 4 stars? But for a shoddy screw, I’d have given 5. A pity, really, because the normal user of this product will be stumped if they face what I did. The instructions are good, the power receptacle and plug are Brand Name – Hubbell, and everything looks good now that it is properly installed. Installing this product went very well up to a point. Rather than using the paper template, I made a properly sized template out of 3/16 inch hardboard and that made it easier to level and scribe a line around for cutting the holes. So, two holes later, I start the assembly and the top receptacle went in smoothly, looks great. Started working on the lower plug assembly and was installing the 1-gang power box when things went sideways. The top screw clamp worked, the bottom one just spun and would not tighten. The #6 x 1-3/4inch round head Phillips screw, that clamps the box to the drywall, was so poorly manufactured that the screw has a smaller diameter in the middle than at the end and head. I took a picture of the offending screw in the jaws of a caliper and there is a gap between the threads and the parallel jaws - hopefully you can see it as well. Fortunately I found, in my hardware stash, a #6 x 1-1/2 inch replacement that worked. If you do not have your own collection of miscellaneous hardware (and this is such an odd size…), you may not be so lucky. I avoided a trip to the hardware store and I was only delayed by 10 – 15 minutes. I can only hope the manufacturer will implement better QC.

Cables were an eye sore that I finally decided to get rid of. I initially made the mistake of purchasing the other kit that doesn't have electrical. Hiding electrically cables is a bad idea as it could cause a fire behind the walls, also your insurer probably would have an issue with it. Then I purchased this kit. Easy to use and the template is spot on. The dry wall cutting could be done with a simple knife, but I used the drywall cutter and it made my life very easy. The electrical bit was great as they colour code everything. Pros: - Sleek and appeal visual design - Install was simple - Electrical setup for dummies Cons: - Minor if any, larger than expected

I installed it at my friend's house for them and it went smoothly. I would recommend that you cut small holes in both locations prior to cutting the template holes when you are going to install first to avoid issues in fishing the electrical wire. It my case there was a 2 inch ABS drain pipe behind where the lower plate was going to go so I had to relocate it and do some patching. The ABS pipe is not detectable by a stud finder. If I had cut two small one inch holes first, I would have spotted the pipe. Otherwise, the installation was easy and straight forward. This is an excellent solution for wire concealment.
