It doesn’t fit all 5gall. Generally speaking, they are 11-3/4” and 11-7/8” openings. This only fits 11-3/4” openings. I hope this helps to decrease the negative reviews when, obviously, is a buyer error and a seller error (not giving an accurate fitment to buyer). This is an awesome product once you find a bucket that kits b/c you ll have better temperament 😂.

Very nice lid but didn't fit MY bait bucket. Sturdy, better made than my last one, but So disappointed, however it does fit an older 5 gal paint bucket we have. I put alot of work into my bucket that had a similar lid that fit, but it was broken recently and glue just won't fix that break. So, I have to decorate another bucket with less gathered stickers, maybe use our best catch photos.... Bumber....more crafting😵‍💫

The lid does what it's suppose to do. Work great. I did have to try a couple buckets as the first one (a green basic one from Menards) did not fit. I used a different one I had laying around and it fits perfectly. Both are 5 gallon and can't even tell that the openings are different sizes. I didn't measure as it works and I'm happy with it. UPDATE: A word of caution as it happened to me twice. I used this for ice fishing and it worked great but when it's put next to another object close to the same height in a sled it can easily come off. I had another pail next to hit and going over bumps on the ice caused the other pail to push the lid off. I lost the lid twice, the first time a buddy was following and saw it. The other...well I don't have the lid anymore. I could not find it as I was heading out for an ice fishing tournament and it was dark and didn't notice until I was at my spot more than a mile out. I will keep it 5-stars as the lid does exactly what it's suppose to and I liked it but post this so hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I really like that the bait lid stays open and the extra clips etc. on it. Just had a bit of a struggle trying to fit it onto one of my many 5 gallon buckets. It seems just a teeny bit too small and had to form the last section over the lip of the chosen bucket by a lot of pressure. One thing is for sure, it won't ever fly off of the bucket, it's really on there tight!

You get what you pay for. No high expectations. Did not surprise me when part of the lid cracked but is still functional. Not the most sturdy plastic for sure

Edit: Since I made my first review of this good idea that won’t work, Flambeau added an additional picture to display the outer dimensions of the lid. If one looks close;y you might notice the white line is showing a outside dimension 11.93 inches. However the one I and apparently many other have, when precisely measured with machine calipers shows the inside dimension at 12 inches. Either way I have not found any bucket from Lowes, Ace, Hoem D., or Uniline that will accept this lid. It is the same size as the buckets. Will never work. I would really appreciate where they seem to routinely suggest most buckets are 11.75 in. Baffling marketing. It wish it worked. It is a great idea. Repeatedly falls of with wave action from the moving boat. The interior size of the this thing is exactly 12" in diameter. Ace Hardware and Home depot (brand new from the store) rim on the 5 gallon buckets are also 12" in diameter. which means one cannot make two 12" object mate up without one being samller than the other. Will not work!!!! IN fact in attempting to make it work, before I took some precise measurements I made it unusable for almost everything. I eventually found an 113/4" inch diameter bucket I had in the garage for a different purpose that kinda fits as long as you don't put water in it and lift it, because it deforms and the top pops off. The description at the top of the page, states that, the top has a 14.25" outside diameter which may true at it widest point, but that is not the interior deminsion. I suppose they have a magiician in house becuse in their technical details they suggest the packaging is actually smaller than the item. also the dimensions of the item in the tech details, is completely different than at the top of the page. So, I am certain equally frustrated fishermen have discovered and commented on, the joy of discovering the exsistence of a solution to aerated bait buckets, has absolutely not has not lived up to the reality. I blame Flambeau for the incredibly inaccurate dimensions stated in there Amazon page. Extremely disapointed. The laack of discalimer that the thing will not fit all five gallon buckets should be stated. I hope the designer who researched this mess has been slapped for his inability to measure bucket mouth sizes.

Tried on several buckets and fits none Now I’ll have to take time to modify/grind a bucket edge so this can fit so I can use this product Other than fit seems great but if it doesn’t fit what’s the point
