Spandex is an interesting fabric choice for this design and type of print. It does stretch as spandex is meant to do, but it the design doesn't have the same give so you end up breaking the print. I just got this because I loved the look and not because I had a project it mind so I can just choose to use it for something that doesn't need much stretch. But if you are looking for spandex specifically for a project that requires more than a little stretch, be aware it won't hold up and continue to look like mermaid scales.

I made a mermaid dress for my niece, and it fit her perfectly very scratchy

When stretched, the material loses it texture and is not usable. The material becomes distended and does not return to original state. I would definitely not buy again.
