My wife and I stumbled across this game by accident. We watched a lot of online reviews for it before buying the deluxe edition and giving it a shot. A week later we are returning the deluxe edition and already ordered the ultimate edition. After playing it a few times the first night it was delivered, we quickly decided this game would be one we really want to keep as pristine as possible for a very long time. It really is a simple game to understand but there are minor combinations that you can chain together. Most of the time you are going to be playing one card from your hand and following what it says at the bottom of the card if there is any text at all. There are no life points to track or energy or sanity which you find in larger games, but the simplicity and straight forward nature of doomlings is what sets it apart. Every game has been different between me and my wife. All the catastrophes do change the outcomes of the next round and only having one trait card in the entire deck make playing more challenging as well. What I am trying to say is neither me or my wife are going to have the same traits with the same effects each game which I turn makes all the games we have played very interesting and make us try to strategies what our next few moves would be before the end of the game, or world lol. Overall this is one of our top games for game nights with only owning it a few days. It is semi-quick fun and you can affect your partners hand and play area. If your on the fence about this game, give it a shot, you'll love it.

The game itself is fun. Relatively easy to learn. The expansions add a unique level of added gameplay. I’ve only had the pleasure to play it as a 1 on 1 setting so far and even then so it made for fun games. The box it came in is stunningly beautiful. Now for the reason why 4 stars. I bought the deluxe edition of the game. It comes with a little play mat and expansions. I was a tiny bit disappointed with how small the box was, it doesn’t fit the play mat. I’d also like to have at least 1 more play mat. Also it would have been great to see more foiled cards in the base game and expansions (I know that costs more for developers). Overall though the quality is very good. I’m happy with the purchase.

I think there's a certain thing to be said these days about games that aren't too complicated and easy to learn, and it's a real testament to this game that the first time I learned to play it, I was drunk at a party and was still able to pick it right up and have an absolute blast. I knew I HAD to own this game, so the next day, in the light of sobriety I ordered it without hesitation. It is cute, fun, and as I mentioned, quite easy to learn. I love this game, and the deluxe bundle brings a few nice extra touches that polishes a game that didn't require any help to be enjoyed. 100% recommend.
