Great sturdy magnetic plate, keeps dies put in place without the need for tape. The only downside is that the plate is covered in many small magnets instead one large one, which makes small dies shift between their magnetic fields, so die tape has its use then, but any dies larger than 4cm are perfectly fine without tape. I had a regular plate before, but after trying this magnetic one, I’d never go back. I’m using it with my electric BigShot Switch - goes in in both directions with no issues.

This magnetic plate is ideal for when you are using nesting dies or just want to place them in a certain area on your paper, seems expensive for a base plate that you already have with your machine - but so worth the money as your dies don't move around at all. I would recommend this to anyone with a big shot

The Sizzix Magnetic Platform works beautifully, keeping all those pesky, fiddly Thinlits and other wafer-thin dies well and truly in their place! I purchased this wonder on Thursday afternoon, not only for a bargainous £19.99 but with free P&P to boot, and it arrived Saturday morning! It's simple, straightforward and easy to use - just use the magnetic platform instead of the one that comes with your Big Shot, add a cutting pad, the material you wish to cut, then the die, then the other cutting pad - and the thin die just latches onto the base plate perfectly, allowing you to be really precise with your cutting. Even when using quite a thick cardstock (200gms or thereabouts), the dies held up perfectly and created perfect cuts all the way around with just one go; there was no need to run it through the machine again as I often found I had to do before using the Magnetic Platform. I bought this item because I already owned a few Framelits and Thinlits sets, as well as some Lawn Fawn thin dies that coordinate with their stamps, but the dies were so tiny and fiddly and difficult to keep in place that I got frustrated whenever I tried, and have therefore all but forgotten about them. However, this magnificent product has given all my unused and unloved dies a new lease of life, and I am gonna be die-cutting my heart out from now on! I am really looking forward to creating lots of my own custom-made stencils from thick card. Hurrah! I would highly recommend buying this product if you too own lots of wafer-thin dies that don't get much use due to all the faffing; I promise you, you won't look back!

Wife uses this and said it works great

I'd been considering this for a long while, but it just kept getting more expensive and I just couldn't justify the cost. But, I just happened to notice a huge reduction so I checked it out quickly. I'm really pleased with it, especially as the price is on its way up again. It'll hold my intricate dies firmly in place for accurate cutting.

Excellent but pricey

After having a big shot this purchase was just the size I needed to get for my small machine and works just great.

I have a Spellbinder Platinum cutting machine and this plate works perfectly. It is only half as big as the standard platform, but l am finding that to be very handy. The magnets are very strong. It has a warning to say that the magnetic field it generates can interfere with a heart pacemaker, so be aware before you buy it. This platform is perfect for cutting a bunch of tiny dies in one pass without having to use tape to hold them all down. It is also great when you are cutting patterned papers and you want your die to line up with the pattern. A smaller platform is much easier to use. Fewer cranks to get it through the machine. Very few dies need the full-sized platform. Another benefit of the smaller size is that it is more affordable. The standard size magnetic platform costs around $70, so this is a great deal. I did purchase brand new acrylic plates and a self-healing mat to use with this platform. I make a sandwich using this platform, a sh mat, the paper and dies, and one acrylic plate. Then l use lightweight cardboard, aka cereal boxes, as shims, if needed. Very happy wirh my purchase. Planning to buy one for a fellow crafter as a gift.
