Hard to fault
Worth highlighting that the manufacturer's recommended 'boil-safe' capacity for this 1.2 litre kettle is 800ml. I use a gas hob to heat this. In response to some other reviews: it was clean inside when received and I simply filled, boiled and discarded the water several times before first use for coffee. To me, it smelled only of 'clean metal' without affecting taste and this diminished over time. I've used it for a couple of months with no 'goo' appearing inside. The lid is a little loose but I don't see this as a major issue and, for those who want an audible indication of boiling, it makes a not unpleasant jangle when this happens. In my experience, the lid is only in danger of toppling out if the kettle is tipped so that the spout is pointing straight down and I find it easy to use the thumb of the pouring hand or the free hand to keep the lid secure by pressing on the thermometer dial. Heats up quickly. Thermometer is accurate as far as I can tell. Pours beautifully. If you use sufficient water there will be no sputtering until you drain the kettle completely. There's no volume measure in the kettle but I use the ridges to measure out how much I need.

Beautiful Kettle with a Couple of Issues
Likes: - Packaged well - Beautifully designed - Easy to clean once in use and feels relatively sturdy - Dispenses water well with good pour stream length - Thermometer is reasonably accurate and good to determine brew temp Dislikes - Sticker that arrives on the kettle is difficult to remove and resulted in a few scratches being present after removal - Arrives with a very pungent metallic smell which remains even after following directions of boiling water and dumping. Found that a few boil and steep washes, initially with 2 Tbsp of bicarbonate of soda and water and then later 50:50 white vinegar:water boil and steep washes eventually removed the smell…but don’t expect to use it straight out of the box. - Top part of the handle closes to the kettle can get quite hot, so sometimes holding it with a cloth is required, which can decrease grip and manoeuvrability of the spout during pouring

Best pouring kettle ever.
This works on our induction hob, and boils far quicker than an electric kettle. Has a temperature gauge on the lid so we can get it to the precise temperature for making proper larg leaf teas. The spout pours really beautifully and it is a joy to use. We descale the kettle with the juice of a fresh lemon which leaves it looking new again. Much better than the old electric kettle we used before.

Very Poor Quality
I purchased this kettle as I have previously bought two Gator coffee canisters, both of which are excellent. This kettle was a huge disappointment - there was visible black solder along the bottom of the kettle, which I attempted to unsuccessfully clean. I boiled the kettle 3 times, but my dishcloth was still streaked with black residue .The lid is appalling - as other reviewers have commented, the lid is so loose you have to hold it, to prevent it falling out which is certainly not safe in my opinion. I returned and purchased the Melitta kettle, smaller but the quality was very impressive.

Bought in October 2020, thermometer now broken
For context, I bought this in October 2020, just over 3 years ago. The kettle itself had seen me make multiple cups of coffee and tea a day and served me well. Now, three years later, the thermometer gauge is broken. I did not put it in the dishwasher (hand wash only!) and only used filter water. I would say this was a very well made kettle (especially at the price I paid for back then). While the thermometer was still working, it performed beautifully, letting me brew the different types of tea leaves I had (which had to be at different temperatures!) The lid is slight loose which makes it easy to figure out when the water is finally boiled as the lid rattles. I guess I finally have to buy a new one. Very much happy with it!

Great product helps make a great coffee
Nice ergonomic handle for easy pouring. I particularly like the built in thermometer to keep the water at the optimum temperature. I would recommend this and am enjoying the pour over coffee experience more with this kettle

Great for what it is intended to do
Nice product. Having the thermometer built in is a tremendous advantage. I don't entirely understand why some people are boiling water in another kettle then transferring to this one to measure temp and pour however. That seems daft/pointless given how much this costs. I use this on a gas hob, and use with filtered water to try and hold off scale build up. I'm very happy with this and definatelly reccomend it. One word of warning though. Don't be tempted to apply too much heat to speed the boiling process. I did, and over a week doing this caused some small spots of solder residue to appear around the base on the outside, discolouring it slightly. This is an easily resolved cosmetic problem (it's not effected the inside at all), as this kettle is made from surgical steel, I can just brillo pad them off, but I'm annoyed at myself because there was no reason to use a bigger hob other than laziness. It's not like making coffee in a Chemex is a fest process after all....
