When you are learning watercolor, you can get away with using cheaper or student grade paint, maybe even less pricey brushes…but always get the best paper your budget will allow, because it will give you the best results, and you will want to keep trying. This paper is the best. Journal is well constructed. I bought the A4, loved it so much i ordered this size a few days days later. Yes, they are expensive - but for me, worth it as I am trying to get better at this medium - and I can’t even imagine the money I have wasted on cheaper watercolor sketchbooks that just sit unused. I will definitely purchase again!

Best watercolor sketchbook of all time worth every penny

Great quality watercolor paper

I did a little research online for my husband's birthday. Let's just say, I earned brownie points this year. This painting book is perfect for my husband to grab and go. He loves to paint while the kids are play at the playground or when we walk along the river. This book is the perfect size and excellent quality.

It’s not arches. Still tryna figure out how to use this paper. I’m very much used to how forgiving and easy to use arches is. I find paints just don’t perform the same way on etchr paper. Paints don’t layer the way I would like, it picks up pigment when depositing pigment and overall I’m just struggling to use this journal. I feel like the paints just sit on top of the paper and don’t blend themselves or soak into the paper. It just sits on top and I’m left with a very poor version of what I had in mind. I did two pieces both the same one on arches and one on the etcher paper and it’s just not a bold or vivid the blends aren’t blending and over all looks like a 4th grade art class project in comparison to the same piece done with arches. Trying hard to love this paper bc it WAS NOT cheap. Maybe I just got a bad batch with sizing? I’m trying to love it but idk if it’s worth the price for the quality of the cotton paper itself. I’ve had better luck with the bahong paper from Temu smh would not recommend for painters who use a lot of wet on wet techniques. Save ur money and get arches.

I love the paper in these books. Watercolor hues appear more luminous on this paper than on any other I have tried, including Fabriano and Arches. This is the first quality sketchbook I’ve found since beginning painting 10 years ago, and I have tried a lot over that time. Most make my paints look chalky or gray. The quality covers and binding, along with the elegant packaging instills confidence in the presentation of your art work. I bought several for Christmas gifts to share the experience with my artist friends. Yes, they cost a few more $ than other brands, but they are definitely worth the price if you care about the result of your painting effort. I definitely recommend.

Best for watercolor. Nothing else to say really

The Etchr sketchbook is disappointingly overpriced for only 44 pages. While the paper is okay, it doesn't quite compensate for the limited quantity. Personally, my favorite sketchbook is the one by Hi Chromatics with 48 pages, and its slightly better quality makes it a more satisfying choice at a comparable price point.
