Tamiya 20053 Tyrrell P34 Monaco 1977 1:20 F1 Car Model Kit

This is a exceptional quality kit. Have bought this to put in my stash but remember this car in my youth and had to own it. Will eventually build the model but you won't be disappointed with the detail and quality.

This kit s the only Formula 1 kit I own. All other Formula 1 cars look the same, just different colours but this one looked the business back in t' day. This car was pretty iconic when motor racing was a real sport, when I was a young 'un, not the health and safety-fest it is today. (I prefer motorcycle racing anyhow) I'm not a Formula 1 fan, watching cars run round in circles all day is not my idea of fun. People only watch it for the crashes anyhow. I actually hadn't seen this kit around for a while so when I saw it for £22 quid I got one and glad I did. I've had a quick nosey in the box (as you do) and it looks like the usual Tamiya quality but obviously with six rubber tyres not the usual four. The decals look ok as does the moulding of the parts, can't see any flash to say its an old model now. Now if only they did a black JPS Formula 1 car, I'd have two racing car models then. Actually I seem to remember seeing a JPS formula 1 car years ago though I don't remember who made it. Maybe it was Tamiya, maybe it was Revell.

A shame really that this lovely car was spoilt by poor confusing instructions and some flimsy parts particularly front chassis. Not sorry I purchased it though , it really looks superb,

This is a good well thought out kit. The upper canopy is separate from the chassis meaning that there's no masking off to do between the blue and white. The detailing and inclusion engine cables makes this one for the more experienced modeller.

Fantastic detailed model. Not built yet but usual Tamiya high standard. Very good value at this price.

The detail in this kit is great. They seem to take great effort in the small details, which makes this a nice kit. Little to no flash on the parts so minimal sanding was needed which made assembly smooth and enjoyable. The pieces fit together very well, so well in fact that I didn't need glue on some. Most of the major parts were molded in colors very close to what the instructions called for so technically you could build this without paint (I chose to paint to add depth and detail)
