genuine Bose, direct replacement.
These are genuine Bose replacements. I have bought these before from the Bose shop and they are the same. However they are very very fiddly to fit. The others from Bose were just the same. the old ones come off easily but trying to get the new ones on is a pain. warm them a bit to make the fixing collar a bit more supple then start to feed the collar into the groove around the earpiece whilst trying to hold it in place. work down both sides towards the bottom. Holding it tight with one hand, and with other hand use a small plastic lever, improvise, a plastic child’s spoon handle will do, and gently lever the last bit over. Check it’s all in the groove. They are Bose quality, so no problems there, but they are also Bose price. Don’t get cheaper aftermarket ones, you’ll split them trying to fit them, and go mad in the process.

Impossible to fit
I never normally write a review but this has really wound me up. These ear pads are impossible to fit. I’ve just spent an hour of my life, that I won’t get back, trying to get them on. The force required to stretch them onto the headphones would either rip the pads apart or break my headphones and so I can’t risk it, given how expensive these are. The Bose website video showing how easily these slip on does not represent reality. I will have to find a Bose shop to try to advise me on how to get these replacement pads on, which sort of defeats the point of ordering these online in the first place. Hopefully they won’t charge for helping me. I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed. Absolute waste of time and money. Unfortunately I’m left with unusable, expensive headphones until either Bose help fit the pads for me, or I can afford to get some other headphones that are designed properly.

Not easy... but worth the effort !
Expensive but when you've paid a lot of money for the original headphones it seems a worthwhile investment. Non genuine pads are about 1/2 the price so it's a £10 difference to know you've not compromised on quality. As others have said they're not easy to fit and probably took me about 40 mins but with a bit of patience (and my sausage fingers) I was able to get them on in pristine condition ..was really worried about damaging them (especially at this price ) but as long as you're sensible it is achievable. If at first you don't succeed .try try try try try and try again. First one went on easily and I couldn't see what the fuss was all about but the 2nd one proved quite a challenge !! Found using the edge of a Business card to help ease the plastic 'skirt' into the opening useful.

Brilliant replacement pads for an exceptional pair of headphones!
WHAT A RELIEF !! My Bose Soundlink On Ear bluetooth headphones are my all-time favourite headphones, and believe me when i tell you i have tried a whole selection of ear and head phones. If you combine all factors; comfort, looks, sound quality, was of connection, two device connection ability, then this headphone tops the lot (overall). I love them! And after 2-3 years of regular use, the pads started to fray and then, to my horror, one totally started to peel off. I looked to buy a new pair of the headphones, but unfortunately they are now obsolete and the latest ones are 'around ear' not on ear, besides why replace the whole unit when only the pads are gone (but i was desperate). But i found these replacement pads on amazon, and i bought them, thinking they might be reasonable.. but after the mild torture of getting them on (you have to bite the bullet and be a bit forceful and pull the material firmly) they have refurbished my dear headphones to almost new feeling - amazing! Comfortable and fresh, I'm so happy! It may not surprise you but i then bought another pair for the future. Go for it, you won't be disappointed!!

Nightmare to put on but worth it for a top drawer set of headphones.
Absolute nightmare to get on the headphones, absolute nightmare, there's no doubt about that....But there isn't a better quality replacement cushion available so you're stuck with these. Youtube videos didn't seem to help me. Lots of strong pinching required to the extent that your fingertip will hurt afterwards for an hour or so.What helped for me was removing the four screws on one of the cans (phillips head screwdriver required), putting the cushion on fully, then removing the cushion straight afterwards, putting the screws back in place and then trying again to put the cushion on as normal. By doing this I got to see that it is possible, as well as how much space there is available to wrap the strip around the headphone can, whilst prestressing the material somewhat. Might be placebo, but it worked for me!Even after all of this tinkering, it still required lots of pinching, unorthodox palm pressure, patience and perseverance. Only buy these if you love the headphones as much as I do....the satisfaction you feel when you get them both on the headphones is outstanding.
