Devil's Advocate [Blu-ray] [1997]

Good flick

It was a film I saw many years ago and always wanted to see again. I found it on many streaming sites but despite its age, it costs a lot just to rent. I really enjoyed the film, in my opinion, there were very scary moments in it. There is gore in the film but I found the scariest parts were the none gory bits.

This is a perfect Saturday night movie! More than just a dumb thriller, with some real substance - but not so taxing your brain hurts. It's even better if, like me, you don't know what the central premise is and it gradually creeps up on you. The script is very good, the characters engaging (I really cared for them); this is strengthened by some excellent acting. Even Keanu, who I normally think of as terribly wooden, does a good turn holding his own against Pacino's usual bombastic performance. I also found it genuinely chilling with some jump-out-of-the-seat moments. [Slight spoiler alert]. The double twist at the end is brilliant! An intelligent, scary thriller.

Good quality. Good film

I saw this back in the day but forgot about it. I think at the time I considered it a bit cheesy, and Keanu Reeves talents a bit debateable. Also the younger me was more in to scifi and action. But I recently saw a retrospective review of the movie on YouTube and it looked great, so I thought I'd give it another whirl. It is _much_ better than I remembered. Pacino plays the Devil with such lecherous enjoyment (not only sexual), as do his female helpers. And the err... devilish glee with which he messes with people's heads is a joy to behold. I'm not a big fan of the ending, it doesn't ring true for me. Still, I'm glad I watched it - it goes straight on my list of favourite movies for adults.

Great movie

I had seen this in the late '90's on tv after it's original release but could not remember the exact storyline. Charlize Theron's break through role, well acted along with Reeves and obviously Al . Lets just say you would not to cross him, menacing is an understatement.
