Just bought it for my 4yr old who loves nature and I am really excited about this book. It's packed full with more than 200 pages about everything from constellations, snowflakes and clouds to trees, beetles and wild animals. Beautifully illustrated. Highly recommended for children of any age and I can't wait to read it with mine. It's A5 so not too big, and I'll definitely be taking it away on holidays. I'm off to buy 2 more copies for my friends whose children will love this too. Total surprise and worthy of more than 5 stars. Lots of northern American wildlife, but don't be put off. Plenty in here to spark a child's imagination. Review: Beautiful and packed full of education - I absolutely adore this book. It's packed full of interesting things to learn about done in a way that is very attractive to look at. Even though it focuses on species in North America and I'm in the UK I still love it. There's lots for my kids to learn about like star constellations, cloud formations, volcanoes, rivers etc. I will be buying others in the series.

stunning book!
Absolutely love it! Just ordered the other two. Wonderful illustrations that are so inspiring. My 11 year old and 2.5 year old both love it! My youngest is currently obsessed with the pages on bees!

Great for families with young children to read together.
I have young children and we are loving picking bits of this and reading it. We are adding our own notes in the margin; questions we have and answers we find. It's becoming OUR notebook. I would recommend it for families with young children 5-9 years. I'm a part time home educator and it's a great resource for some first stage nature studies.

This is a wonderfully illustrated book about a nice range of things in nature (though note, it's very centred on North America), from rock minerals and weather to different biomes, and even covering a select range of information about different creatures, insects, plants, and constellations. It's a great book for a budding naturalist, and is an unchildish nonfiction book that might, as well, be suitable for older teenagers and adults with low literacy or special education needs, as it's fresh and cleanly laid out, with not a dense amount of information to clutter it like an encyclopaedia, but just enough to give a shallow and varied exploration and spark further curiosity. I wasn't so sure about the couple of random recipes in there, though. One of the fonts used was cursive and very hard to read sometimes, which makes using this as a teaching tool not so great, but it's a lovely collection of curiosities and titbits of information, nonetheless, and a quick read for its size.

So good I bought 2
I bought one for my grandchildren to help with their homework. I also bought one for me as I love the book, so informative, well laid out and interesting.

It's like author's journal..it's good reference book..it's good enough to inspire young kids to explore nature around them and start journalling..though it's based on American landscape I still think u can use it as reference to do your own research about your own country landscape, nature, insect, animals.i got farm anatomy, nature anatomy and ocean anatomy..all are good books ..well packed with information and not too many photos but nice illustrations which is selling point of this books.if these types of books written about Indian nature,farming..small and simple contents..our kids will surely start doing there own journalling..and self study.
