The best and brightest red you will ever see!! (Nothing else comes close?!)
I’ve been using L’Oréal Majirel Rouge Mix for almost 15 years, and it has never let me down. It's the best, brightest, most stunning red I've ever used. (People stop me in the street!) When I first started colouring, my base was brunette and I used Oxydant 2 to lift enough depth for that proper pillar-box red. As time has gone on and I’ve become much greyer at the roots, Oxydant 1 is now perfectly sufficient—in fact I get a cleaner result with less lift and more deposit. What made Rouge Mix different from almost every other “red” in the salon range is the purity of its red chromatic base. Most commercial reds are built from mixtures that lean on copper or violet sub-tones (to sit correctly at different levels), so they inevitably show warmth (orange/copper) or coolness (violet/magenta) depending on undertone. Rouge Mix used a highly saturated red direct-dye component that deposited a very “primary” red with minimal secondary reflect, so it stayed visually neutral instead of drifting toward pink or ginger. (Anyone who has spent years counteracting secondary undertones will know how unusual that is in a permanent system.) The formulation itself has always been gentle and surprisingly conditioning for a high-pigment red. I have thin, slightly frizzy hair that tends to break, and L’Oréal has consistently been the most reliable in terms of strength, softness and shine. No chalkiness, no dulling after a couple of shampoos. Rouge Mix is now quite hard to get hold of, but there's still some around if you look. If you’re buying online, double-check the listing carefully. Some sellers are now pushing “Red Booster” as if it’s the same thing - it isn’t. Rouge Mix was a direct colour line, not an additive, and the booster doesn’t recreate the same tone or performance. I’m soooo sad this is going - if you ever see genuine Rouge Mix stock online, it’s absolutely worth grabbing (just don’t be palmed off with the booster). xx PS. I'm now looking for a replacement formula - I'm currently thinking along these lines: Majirouge Carmilane 70% with Majirel 6.66 30%, plus Oxydant 1 (or perhaps 80%:20% for an even brighter red?) Not tried this yet though!

I'm a Majirel 6.1 user for 20+ years - I know its color and this one is not true to it!
Very disappointed. As I said in the title, I have been using Majirel 6.1 (always this band and always this color) for more than 20 years. So I can say I know what to expect from a "Majirel 6.1 permanent hair color" and this one is not right. TOO DARK. I thought the magenta box of Majirel 6.1 was more expensive than this one because of the box and target market. I assumed this one was for professional use hence cheaper. But this is another product. Will never buy again and no, do not recommend it.
