Best value ever - will be buying more!
I bought three of these cameras and have had them up for a few days now - just added the micro SD cards Samsung 32GB 95MB/s (U1) MicroSD EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter (MB-ME32GA/AM) and longer micro USB cables Micro USB Charger Cable,YCCTEAM 10ft Long micro usb charging cable and Power Date Cables for Samsung,Tablet, LG, Motorola, blackberry, Android Smartphones (10 ft Black) last night to get them wall-mounted.So far, I have been nothing but impressed. I haven't had any of the connectivity issues that were reported earlier and video quality has been more than sufficient in all lighting conditions. The app is solid, intuitive, and overall developed very well. I hope that development continues at a rapid pace. There are quite a few features they could implement easily to make the user experience even better.I have sent an email to Wyze support to clarify a few questions I have seen raised, and a few of my own. I will try to post the reply when I receive one. I plan to buy 3 or 4 more when they are back in stock.EDIT: My emailed questions to Wyze Support and the Response received, below. Hope this helps someone! The cameras are pretty great and I have 3 more "pre-ordered".My email to Wyze -----Questions:From what I've read, using ThroughTek for video processing appears to be security concern with IPs in China and Japan. Are there any plans to change this or address how this is or is not a valid concern? What is the max size SD card supported and how much will it hold per 32gb? I assume the video on SD card is a rolling last X number of days or hours?Feature requests:Motion sensing only when I'm not home using GPS or WiFi locationMore windows for notification time period, day of week and times of day for blackoutAbility to pause all cameras or just one, like a privacy modeInterval refreshes on main screenThis one is more difficult, but the ability to store the clips/video on your own server or cloud storage like Google driveReply from Wyze ------Thank you for contacting us, and apologies for the delayed response. We've had a huge amount of interest in the WyzeCam and it's taking us a little longer than usual to respond to emails. Thanks for your patience.1. Our security and server use is being reviewed. Our goal is to keep all information on US servers. I don't have any kind of eta or schedule to share.2. Thank you for your question, below is some information for you regarding micro SD cards.Q: What size of SD card should I buy?A: The Wyzecam supports the FAT32 file system for SD card. We suggest a 8GB to 32GB Class 10 microSD card depending on your need. A larger size card will not damage your camera, but our product is currently only rated and recommended for 32GB cards.Q: How long can a 8GB or 32GB card last for local recording?A: You can record video on the microSD card for the approximate times based on the quality of video you select.8GB SD 2.6 Days HD .8 Days16GB SD 5.3 Days HD 1.6 Days32GB HD 10.6 days SD 3.2 DaysQ: What brand of MicroSD card should I buy?A: We don't recommend any specific brands, however, make sure you use a Class 10 type of card for best video recording results.Q: What is the HD/SD FPS (frames per second)?A: Both HD and SD video settings record and playback are 10 FPS.Q: What is the bitrate for HD and SD?A: HD is ~120kb/s, SD is ~60kb/s.We have had people use larger cards with success, but this is not officially supported. We are definitely looking at working on many of your requests. Awesome cameras!
Like most, I was hesitant in trying these out. I was tied into the Ring ecosystem and thought there wasn’t anything else that was going to work for me. I was wrong... I ask of Wyze to PLEASE release a doorbell camera so I can ditch my Ring Doorbell.Amazingly, the quality of streaming picture you get is fantastic. I’ve had SO many issues with my Ring devices recording garbage quality for so long I’ve just gotten used to it. I’ve been back and forth with Ring and replaced the cameras with no improvements. With my Ring device literally a few feet from the router the connection was okay at best. Ring kept telling me it’s my connection speed which is nonsense... I have 100 mbps down and 25 mbps up. What a terrible experience. Enough about that.I thought to myself that since Ring wasn’t a cheap camera, there’s no way this little $25 camera could be better right? I was so happy when this camera went live! What’s even better is the features! So much better than what I had. Ring gives you a 30 second video on motion. Well what happend just before it started recording, what about after?? I’ve had stuff go missing from my front porch and have no idea how it happend because Ring stopped recording and has a cool down. Wyze sends you a 12 second clip (which is meh) however there’s a continuous recording mode! So now I can see what happened before and after the 12 seconds!Setup was simple enough, connecting to WiFi, upgrading firmware, and downloading the app. I bought an outdoor case for my cameras and mounted them outside on the corners of the house. So far so good! I also bought a 25ft security camera power cord and it works well. Easy to hide the cord through the siding of the house.Picture quality is really good, motion detection works really well, night vision is okay for close objects. I’m sure it would be good for indoors but you really can’t see well outside like the backyard. Maybe and IR floodlight would work? You can take still photos with this cam and time lapse videos. Very easy to download videos to your phone or share straight from the app. You can also give other users permission to view your cameras. I have 3 members in my household that can view the footage.I’m excited to see what’s next from Wyze, hopefully a doorbell cam, 4K cameras too! Having the cameras record in 4K stored on device or locally would be great. Oh yeah, weather proof would be a plus.Overall this is a solid setup, very affordable cameras and you can add on to your setup very easily without breaking the bank. I’m going to add the contact sensors and 2 additional cameras. Delivery was super fast, I got mine the very next day! This was a great find and I can’t see myself going with anything else.
